i agree with jobber...unfortunately when it happened the first time and they had a match at the pay per view...it wasnt the match everyone thought it would be...maybe they will really do a good show now, the potential is there jeff is obviously the fan favorite and can easily get the push..matt unfortunately is going the other way...like many tag teams before them one does pretty good and the other crashes..two that come to mind are marty janetty, and jim neidhart

So the time has come. They have been split in singles matches for a while now, it had to eventually happen.

the reason the split didn't work the first time is because Jeff didn't like the way they were doing it. He basically threw a tantrum and refused to do the story arc, and got the hardys suspended for a month. (this is one of the main reasons why i like matt better. he may be a jobber, but at least he's willing to work. Jeff didn't want to break up the tag team, but his brother convinced him that its the better way to do it, even though it meant Matt would end up on Heat. He sacrificed his own career for Jeff.)
