I have a few friends that are cops, but I've also dealt with asshole cops. It all comes down to the fact that they are human, just like everyone else. If they're good people and you're not fucking up big time, and you treat them with common decency, odds are you'll get a break. But the flipside is the "angry" cop who thinks he's gonna control everything his way. Sometimes they MAKE you hate them. It's a tough job, but nobody forced them to do it. These "angry" cops should just find another line of work. All in all, though, most cops are just decent guys doing an honest days work. If you despise them, remember that the next time you really need their help.

i hate new brunswick cops... useless and assholes.

any other cops usually dont piss me off too much, coz they actually DO their job.

I have to say that I generally respect the police, just am wary of those that abuse there powers. And you will know when people abuse there power too...

Some people have been witness to my respect for police (It occured on 8/10 early AM hours), and how I talk to them and the respect that I have gotten back. I am also in an unfortunte disadvantage in that my father was a cop, and my brother currently is one. And many of my friends are police officers themselves so I know how they function in real life and on there jobs. So I know how to deal with there egos or jokes, or whatever else...so I have respect for them, although I have respect for pretty much anyone until they give me a reason to disrespect them...

yeah that's how i feel. these small suburban cops that deal with high school kids drinking a beer in a park like they were dealing crack at the white house has to go. just fucking relax sometimes.

but even those i hate i still respect, but the ones who abuse the power really ruin it for all of them.

it depends on the cop. my uncles a cop and he's cool as hell. but asshole cops, ive got a story. me and my friends are skateboarding around westlake high school one saturday afternoon, and all of a sudden we see this white car pull in to the parking lot going fast as hell do a couple weird maneuvers and then speed away, of course we were all watching it because its not everyday a car barrels around a high school parking lot going 60 mph making all kinds of skids and sharp turns, a few seconds later a cop comes up and starts giving us a bunch of shit insisting we knew who it was and telling us that we wont get in trouble if we tell, and we kept telling him we had no idea who it was and he was like "i saw you guys looking at him is he driving illegally does he not have his license or something" and we kept telling him NO WE DONT KNOW WHO IT WAS and he wouldnt let us be until he finally gave up i guess. ive met cops who yelled at us and said they're gonna comfascate our boards next time he sees us skating there, and ive met cops who just say "dont hurt yourselves" or something while we were skating in the same spot that the other cop told us he's gonna take our boards. i respect the cops who dont think their so much better than everyone else because they are the "authority".

I love and respect them all. Theyre easy targets because theyve taken a job that most of us dont want. Occasionally we do have to be assholes, thats our job. No one enjoys getting arrested or getting a ticket, or even being asked if they were involved in any criminal activity. But these things are all necessary in our society. Someone said it above, cops are only human. Dont be afraid to say hi to em, give em your number, or just say thank you occasionally. Thanks.

I respect the police. I never met a "bad" officer. I knew of a bad detective, but that's about it. I agree with some of ya. Police are people. There are a lot of cops, so there are a lot of types of cops, that's all. We just have to keep in mind that one bad apple doesn't spoil the whole bunch.
I really respect their sacrifice, and sense of duty. They are heros. The ones that don't seem it, are just unproven heros...they put their asses out on the line everyday. That badge, that car, is a moving target, but it's also a moving sign of protection and service. Sacrifice and duty. Gotta respect that.

The pay sucks too, unless you're a cop in a nice area.

I really hate asshole cops who are a stickler for the rules. Like I parked in front of a hydrant and fell asleep. I was in the car and I got a ticket. The car was running. Why not just knock on the window and ask me to move the vehicle?

True, cops are only human but respect is a two way street. I've met some who were professionals in every aspect of their jobs, be it crowd control, doling out speeding tickets, or patrolling my neighborhood.

But I've also encountered some that were foul-mouthed & clearly had no respect for anyone. At least on that day. Maybe they were hungover, I don't know.

I respect police & realize that they have a difficult job to do. I think everyone does deep down. They have to deal with some very unsavory people. But a little common respect can go a long way.
