I dont smoke and I think its a great idea. There is nothing worse than a smoke-filled bar. I usually leave when the massive headache starts.Or how about when you're eating and someone lights up at the next table? Disgusting. Keep your suicidal habits in your own house, you friggin' chimnies!

i think people have a right to kill themselves with smoking as muich as they want, but the ones who choose not to speed up the death process have chosen that for a reason. when im standing in a bar and people are smoking all around me its seriously makes me sick. i get a soar throat for a week and my eyes get all watery and all that fun stuff.

im not complaining bout restaruants because there are smoking and non smoking sections, im talking about bars and comedy clubs where there is no choice to be away from the smoke.

I smoke Cigars once in a while. I HATE cigarettes. But I think people who smoke should be able to do so at a bar.

EVERYONE I know smokes when they drink. Usually more so at a bar.

Now I agree that leaving a crowded bar with the smell of smoke in your hair and on your clothes is bad, but if you don't like it, find a bar with fewer smokers.

I bet if you searched, you'd find a smoke free bar or something. There are a lot of people who think like you, so there's probably a smoke free bar somewhere.

It's absolutely TERRIFYING to me that people willingly accept the government telling people how they can run their own PRIVATE businesses. Whether you smoke or not, this should appall you.

This country is supposed to offer freedom, and you, as a bar or restaurant owner, should have the right to decide for yourself if your establishment is going to offer a non-smoking environment or not.

What's next...the government telling us we can't smoke in our private homes, too?

It's already started, dude. I'm sure you've heard of those municipalities where neighbors can call the police if you're smoking in your backyard and the smoke wafts over into theirs. Disgusting. And I heard of another case where a divorcee, I'm not sure if it was the man or woman, wasn't allowed, by the rule of a judge, to smoke not only around his/her child but anywhere the child was likely to be while in their custody. What this effectively means is the parent isn't allowed to smoke in his/her house, alone, becasue the child would be spending time there. If that is not total lunacy, I don't know what is.

Acutally Gvac I have something that will upset you A LOT! Some people in manassas (i think) virginia were trying to pass a city law stating - you can't smoke in your own house (or apt) if the smoke is capable of easing out near somebody. Fortuantly they didn't pass it. As for you Philby - smoking shouldnt be banned in bars , i still have yet be a legal age in a bar so you arent going to ruin it for me now.

"Basic Instinct" screenwriter Joe Ezterhaus has throat cancer after a lifetime of smoking, and is urging Hollywood to stop glamorizing cigarette use the way he says he did.
Ezterhaus published a piece recently stating that he was diagnosed with the disease 18 months ago. Much of his larynx is gone, he said.

If you eat bad foods, you are only affecting yourself. Same for drugs and alcohol, as long as you don't drive or become an asshole. Smoking affects everyone unfortunate enough to be around it. Smoking affects everyone unfortunate enough to be around it.
Exactly why there should be non-smoking restaurants and bars, AND smoking ones, too.

To make it uniform across the board is unfair, unjust, and pretty silly, if you ask me.

This way, owners and patrons alike would have the right to choose.
