View Full Version : How Do You Make Your Bed?

Ok I just got done washing my sheets and comforter when I asked my boyfriend to help me make my bed. We put the fitted sheet on the mattress, then we put the top sheet on. I proceed to tuck in the bottom end of the sheet in between the mattress at the foot end, when he went hysterical! He questioned what the fuck I was doing. I gave him the strangest look and told him that I'm making my bed. He asked me how the hell am I going to get into bed with the sheet tucked in at the foot of the bed. He said only hotels make beds this way. I went into a laughing hysteria!! I had to show him that you pull the sheet from near the pillow and climb into bed. He looked at me like I was insane. He then explained that he never tucks in the sheet at the foot of his mattress, and that how I was doing it was the incorrect way.
Now I'm sure most of you are with me on this one. I'm going to take a wild guess and say the majority here tuck your sheet in between your mattress and not let your feet stick out from under the sheet.
Who is a normal bed maker here?

i only use the fitted sheets on my bed, and a couple of comforters. but im VERY anal when it comes to bed making. a reason i dont use the regular sheet anymore is cuz i cant sleep if it gets untucked from the bottom end of the mattress. i'd get up in the middle of the night to remake my bed. im the same way with comforters. if the tag part of the comforter is pulled up, i have to re-arrange it.
it's VERY freakish to sleep with your feet hanging out from under the sheets. i dont know how you put up with him, Lisa :)

I hate a fitted sheet. I cannot stand it. It ALWAYS comes loose in the middle of the night and I have to make a decision to wake up enough to fit it back on or to sleep the rest of the night uncomfortably. Where's Rooster's screaming thread? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!

Well, personally I only use the fitted sheet and maybe a comforter, depending on the weather. But growing up my mother did make me use the top sheet, and I had to tuck just the 'foot end' of the sheet under the mattress. Ah, the joys of bedding...

I don't use a top sheet at all!! I hate anything tight against my feet, but I also hate having extra fabric tangled around my ankles when the sheet isn't tucked in. Screw the sheet - it's all about the quilt.

Well, when I use the top sheet, which isn't often, I do as you describe, Effme. Also, I make hospital corners. Anyone who's ever been in the military should know how to make a bed that you can bounce a quarter off of the top. Nowadays, I just use the fitted sheet/comforter combo.

It is utterly futile to make your bed seconds before you sleep in it. Case closed.

How Do You Make Your Bed?Well first i would get some wood and nails and measure out a nice frame. Then I would sand down the corners....ohh you mean like "making the bed"...oh well, i just roll out of bed and try not to let the cover hit the floor. As long as the blanket is actually ON the bed...then we're all good.

well to be honest, i really dont make my bed. i never have
but...
if i were going to, i wouldn't tuck my sheet in or anything. i hate that like in hotel rooms where you feel pinned in under the sheets. whenever i get there, before i get into bed i just take the sheets out completely and then hop in

I must have OCD or something, cuz I'm so anal about my bed being made before I go to work or when I wash my sheets and comfortor. I wish I could just throw my sheets and comfertor on the bed. Life would be simpler.

I used to tuck in the sheet on one side and at the foot of the bed but that kind of pinned me in made it difficult for me to roll over. Now I only tuck in one side. Makes it much easier to roll over.

Effme! I do the same thing. I tuck the top sheet under my matress and I always have to make my bed before I go to work. For some reason a made bed makes the whole room seem clean.
I wasn't always like this, I didn't even really make my bed until about junior year of college. Now I'm anal about it too! :)

One of the first things I do when I wake up in the morning is make my bed. I'm pretty anal about it, too.
I'm a bit of a neat freak, and an unmade bed just looks awful to me.
And yes, I use the top sheet and tuck it in all the way around.

When I was younger, my mother was so insane (& her father was a Marine) that I literally had to do the bounce-a-quarter-and-catch-it thing for a while. So I had to use the top sheet and use the old 'hospital corner' at the foot of the bed to get it tight enough for the quarter trick.
Now I have a King-sized bed and don't care enough to use the top sheet unless I know there is going to be a visitor....otherwise it's just the fitted sheet and comforter.
