American Idol/Guitar hero?

I know alot of people like to bash the show AMERICAN IDOL, but I'm wondering....

Would you watch a show that was exactly like A.I, but instead of looking for a singer, they were looking for a guitarist?!!
I think that would be sweet! 10,000 geet players could be narrowed down to 10 semifinalists who then have to perform 1 song each week in a totally different style.
It would be fun to watch the Berklee shred-heads get eliminated when they can't quite cut it on "Blues night". And then watching the classical dudes try to let it all hang out on "funk night" will be just as amusing.

Anybody else think this show would be a ratings smash? Think aboot it...it's never been done.

Making of the Band with just a guitar player? I don't think it will be a smash hit like American Idol but I have been wrong before.

Maybe it will last longer than The Magic Johnson Show.
