M. Night Shamylan's new thriller is not his best movie(I liked Unbreakable for it's origonal characters and story concept) and is a mix and match of many other movies. "Night of the Living Dead"-"Panic Room"- "Day the Earth Stood Still" "To kill a Mockingbird" and "Critters". I still got hooked by the hokey God and belief story and the central theme of the fractured family that is in every M.Night movie. Gibson is good as a Bucks County farmer(former preacher) with a couple of kids and a failure of a kid brother(Joiquin Phoenix) that fend off the invasion of bad monsters in the cornfield. It has strong references to 9/11 (filming here in Newtown Pa on the day of Sep 11) and it is creepy as shit. See it with an alien.
