BON JOVI: CLASSIC ROCK?

I am going to try and say this without offending anyone, but: Will Bon Jovi be remembered as a great band? Lately it seems that Jon Bon Jovi has suddenly reached the (un)hallowed heights of Sting, Phil Collins and the rest of the "acceptable" musicians. But, have they ever been anything more than a mindless pop/hair band? My remembrances of them are cheesy videos with a lot of teeth, some song about being a cowboy on the steel cock he rides and the guitar player married Tommy Lee's used goods. In 20 years, will people look up to the innovation of Bon Jovi the way we grew up marveling at Sabbath, Zep, Ramones, Zappa, etc.? Of course not. There was nothing innovative going on there. Just "pop" tunes. Why is he now a saint?

Dont know if Bon Jovi is a classic rock band, but i do know i like free concerts! and i heard that Bon Jovi may join U2 in a huge concert in Times Square on sept 5th to kick off the football season. It is supposed to be as big as New Years in Times Sqaure.

The point is, unless you didn't get it: Why is Bon Jovi even considered for a huge show like this? There's NO ONE more relevant than him/them?

Yes they are indeed an 80's Hair Band, but that doesn't inherently make them bad. As far as 80's Hair Bands go, they were good musicians. I am in no way a Bon Jovi mark, but I think a majority of their old music holds up, and their newer stuff isn't that bad either.

Maybe not as a "great" band, but they will certainly be remembered as a huge band. There are not many bands that can still fill stadiums 20 years after releasing their first album. They might not be a top quality band (relatively), but they will certainly be remembered.

HATING Bon Jovi is natural ro all non-deaf people.
