BOO! I'm boycotting if it happens. I wish there really could be a nationwide boycott so these cry babies don't get paid. All they are getting is paid vacation. Most of them don't give a shit.

If they go on strike, i'm gone for good.
It looks like the corruption of the sport will be exposed enron style.

Figgy -- you're absolutely right. I'm a Sox fan but as a fan of the game Donnie Baseball deserved that honor. I also wanted to see if Matt Williams could hit .400 that year. 1994 was shaping up to be one of baseball's greatest years -- instead it's been one of it's worst because the strike.

friggin scumbags....
If they even attempt to do some kind of big to-do on the 1 year observance of Sept 11th, just to strike 5 days later, they're friggin scumbags, and I love baseball, more than any other sport, but they're friggin scumbags if they do that....
friggin scumbags....

You have to agree with the players on this...I know is hard to grasp the concept of a 25 million a year star strinking...but he does it for the guys underneath him. You have to understand that baseball is EXCLUDED from federal Anti-Trust suits which allows them to dissolve teams like the Minnesotta Twins and Montreal Expos at whim, with no regards to the players union or citoes at large. Baseball is one of the last industries to allow labor unioins and the players stand together and they are seen as scumbags. That is wrong, the owners held ballplayesr under the iron fist for long time and had no ay to recover from until the Messerschmidt case of 1975. AND it is the owners fault for the salaries being as extravagent the way they are...1) cause they PAY them 2) they could have of allowd every ball player to be a free agent at the end of every season but instead they allwoed the system they allow today which is the owners fault and not the players. All the players want is a greater share of the lions profit, especially for the playoffs...just look at the way teams vote on these issues, you will almost see the Mets and Yanks come to an agreement on the way baseball conducts itself...

hahah this fucking great... on sportcenter this morning the labor union is denying the strike and said that it was rumor, basicly said it was a lie.... hahahha this is just getting funny now....
Yeah but doogie if the fans in minn. and montreal would go to a fucking game then there would be no talk of contracting them... it is the fans of those areas who are to blame.. Montreal had over 37,000 attendance on opening day, now they average like 5000 a game... The Newark Bears get better attendence then the Expos....if the fans don't go to the games then the ballclub can't make any money..simple as that...

not quite buddy...people seem to forget the team with the best record in baseball at the time running away with the NL East were none other than the Montreal Expos, featuring the fabulous Pedro Martinez...
But back on topic, anyone else think its kinda weird they would strike on the 16th day of the month, being as paychecks come in the 15th and the 30th?

well this way they only lose 1 pay check... it is actually a very smart move.. because regular season ends on the last days of sept 27-30... you can't strike if you team ain't playing....

Although I seriously Doubt Alex Rodruiguez Gives two shits what Toby Hall is making, and without getting into wh's fault it is....
I feel baseball's going to do this whole observance of Sept. 11th, and have this big deal and whotnot, and if people know they're going to strike in 5 days, the general consensus will be, "who the hell are you?" it's a joke, and it will be a joke.... that's why I say they're scumbags. Finish the season, strike in April...

Is that the order of your favorite sports? NASCAR over football? You're smoking some serious crack.

The NFL regular season and the European soccer leagues will have started plus the NHL regular season starts October 9 so there's little chance of me caring about a baseball strike this time around. Cancelling the World Series is still bullshit.

I'm tried of these over payed babies. They make more money than any working man or woman just to play a sport. They get endorsements, commericals, autographing baseballs, etc. It a boring game it not like football or other sports than fast-paced. Some of the guys in the minor leagues should have the chance to play like the players on the major teams do, how know maybe the mets will play better with minor league guys lol. Getting back to my point if this strike occurs the more people are either not going to watch anymore or just stay home, which could force the league to increase the timeline of elimating teams. After the last strike I haven't been watching the yanks that much usually by July I start watch, but if the strike occurs playoffs only.
