There is nothing as sad as someone who throws a party for themself. If no one is throwing a party for you, shouldn't that send a message? Does this come from some bizzare need for attention? I couldn't imagine someone inviting me to a party FOR THEMSELF! Do you bring a present? Who starts singing "Happy Birthday"? The guest/host of honor? I'ts weird.

Free booze is always cool. But I cant imagine attending a "party" like that. And you're right about what prompted this post. He is a lonely, sad individual.

What's the difference. You want to share your bday with your friends. I've thrown birthday parties at school. Big, crowded, house parties that were so fun! (we even charged people-not the people I knew-and made a shit load of money)

Like Jon said, it's only sad if you are asking people to do it. Throw your own and if no one comes, then you know you have no friends. Other than that it's an excuse to "have friends over" like you said.

Making money off a party is low. Face it, no one cares about your birthday but you, your family and your close friends. If they don't do anything about it then it's time to look at yourself and wonder why no one gives a shit about you.

my parents were invited to a 5oth party at the Rainbow Room in NYC...the guy threw it for himself...SAD VERY SAD...and blew like $300,000 on the shin dig...KOO KOO
