How come, when you tell the truth about something ((that could possibly change a friendship with someone)), it often fucks everything up?

Has this happened to any of you? And how do you deal with it?

i say tell the truth. i almost never lie, one because i'm a terrible liar and two because there's no need.

a lot of people cannot handle the truth, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't still speak it.

im an honesty person,so if someone wants to hear the truth thats what they will get no matter what.i always hurt peoples feelings when i speak the truth.

a lot of people cannot handle the truth, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't still speak it.
that weed you be smoking sure do make you a wise man:)

i care how it may have hurt him, but i hurt more coz i think i lost someone because of my stupidity ((not in telling him the truth, but what the truth was about))

This is why i DONT TELL PEOPLE HOW I REALLY FEEL...they might look at me differently....i TOLD someone what i truely felt ONCE....ONCE.....and it seems like when i am around them they would be like on pins and needles and took everything i meant to like a different meaning...SO i try to shut my mouth and not talk

I'll get off my SOAP BOX now!

Well, honesty is the way to go, especially because the fact of the matter is, they most likely will find out eventually. And if not from you, from someone else. (trust me, i know this from experience. a lie can only last so long) I know how you feel Shelle, but if this person truly cares, they might be upset and angry at first, but in time you can work things out. I don't think most people can handle the truth, it's hard to hear sometimes.

Most people would rather hear what they want and stay in their own little world of ignorance, but it will bite them in the ass one day when they have to deal with reality.

Without a question I tell the truth, it depends on the other's reaction. Its better to get it off your shoulders then having the what if thoughts

I think actions speak louder than words, and if that person knew how you were he might have understood you a little better. Sometimes other things hurt more than the truth........

In most cases, honesty is the way to go, but sometimes you have to weigh the pro's and con's, as well as the potential hurt you can cause by being truthful, if you're telling the truth just to make yourself feel better and clear your concsience, but you are going to destroy the person you are telling the truth to, then you need to think really hard about it... I personally would rather carry a lie to my death and suffer myself, than hurt someone deeply just to make myself feel better, if I did the crime, it's gonna be worse for me to carry that lie around with me, and if I lied, then I would deserve to feel horrible.... it also depends on what you are lying/not lying about... ie: if someone say, cheated on me and it was a stupid mistake, not an affair or hidden relationship, I would rather not know... but that's just one girls opinion, and probably not a popular one...

but basically presenting a false reality of you will
only serve to diallusion the person with which your

Hey the truth is what matters... if they can't handle the truth then that person my have to find a nice pet that will keep them company... life hurts and if it didn't you would never be able to enjoy the days that are good to you... like in everything, time will heal all wounds..... stay true to yourself and everything will fall into place for you.....

yeah, now that there's been a little more time since what happened did happen...

...things seemed to have fallen into place, and in my favor.

In retrospect, I'm glad I told the truth, I know for a fact that it would have been a major problem in the near future.

Honesty is the best way to go. If they can't handle the truth, then that's their problem. Most people can't handle the truth and if it is someone special to you, sometimes it is best that nothing is said.

I've found that honesty works best for me. I'm tired of walking on egg shells for the sake of someone else getting hurt. Carrying the burdens of peoples' sorrows. I'm at the point in my life where I don't have time for games. If you can't handle what I have to say, then you shouldn't be listening.
