STANTON, Calif., July 17 - Five-year-old Samantha Runnion, whose nude body was found in an open field 50 miles from home, was sexually assaulted and asphyxiated, authorities said Wednesday, warning that her killer would likely strike again quickly, possibly within 24 hours.

You know what....sometimes I wonder if I am either too Niave` (did I spell that right?) by thinking that we are too violent and to turn the other cheek, something people do not do as much as they should...and then I see this news...and I wonder if we should be a mix of both...if we should be tolerant until lines have been crossed. I think this man should be put to death by use of the chinese water torture, but instead of water...we use Hydrochloric acid to SLOWLY..drip...drip...drip...on his head as it spends hours eating away at his hair..then skin..then skull then brain. And then we force every prisoner who has been convicted of Child Molestation and all child killers to be forced to watch so they know what awaits them someday.

I NEVER suffer from insanity...I love EVERY minute of it

This scum should be killed . We all hope he will be caught. Beyond that, why are they so quick to brand this scum a serial rapist/molester/whatever? Are ther other open cases like this in that area? What if the scum was freaking out and drove to a remote area and just dumped her body in a state of panic? This narrowing of the focus could slow the process. Let's hope not.

That is horrible and it is such a sick world we live in. I can't imagine if that were my child. It always makes me think of that movie "A Time to Kill" where the father shot the bastard who raped his daughter while he was walking out of court. I honestly think me or whoever my husband is would want to do the same. I can't imagine having that man alive and well after my daughter was so brutally violated and killed.

TEHRAN (Reuters) - An Iranian man, convicted for raping and killing his 16-year-old nephew, will be executed by being thrown off a cliff in a sack, a newspaper reported on Thursday.

If the unnamed man survives the fall down a rocky precipice, he will be hanged, legal experts said. He has 20 days to appeal the court sentence.

The killer was arrested last year in the northwestern city of Mashhad after "seducing" and killing his nephew, who worked as an assistant at the man's carpenter's workshop, the Norouz daily newspaper said.

Under Iran's Islamic law, applied since the 1979 revolution, pederasty, homosexuality and adultery are among a long list of crimes punishable by death.

Samantha Runnion is probably a beautiful little girl... and it makes me sick she'll never be able to do all the wonderful things that she dreamed of...

just the fact that there are so many kids i know, and the fact that... they're the same age...

i could never ever imagine this happening to my niece, my neighbor's kids... my cousin's babies...

my heart goes out to the girl's family...

...this makes my heart so f'g sick.

Calif. Police Arrest Suspect in Samantha Murder

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Police said on Friday they had arrested a man suspected of the abduction and murder of 5-year-old Samantha Runnion, who was dragged kicking and screaming into a car outside her home earlier this week.

The man was taken in for questioning late on Thursday night after sheriff's deputies got search warrants for an apartment complex in Lake Elsinore, about 10 miles from the forest where Samantha's bruised and naked body was found dumped on Tuesday.

Samantha's murder, and warnings from FBI ( news - web sites) agents that her killer could strike again soon, had touched off a massive manhunt and sparked fear across California.

Samantha was snatched from outside her apartment in Stanton, Orange County, on Monday evening by a man who lured her into his car by claiming he was looking for a lost puppy.
