Since college, I've been using birds of the Family Corvidae (rook, raven, crow, etc.) and decided it was time to start a new one. I'm not entirely sold on my new naming scheme, so I'm trying to think of a good new one.

So I wonder, what names do you use for your computers?

I name em by stations as to how I have a couple of PC's networked together at my house
Figamus Prime (the PC in my room)
Figamus Alpha (livingroom)
Figamus Delta (basement)
Figamus Omega (fathers PC)

Like Figgy said, you need to name computers that are on a network, so you can recognize them. I have about a half dozen computers running here and I was just running out of names on the old naming scheme, so I was looking for new names.

Anyone who goes to college or works in a place with a bunch of servers, ask the computer people how they name the machines and they'll tell you what the naming scheme is.

well, i was planning on networking my comps together, but they went explodey and now i have one. And my naming scheme is in an anime style, my comp is know as Vash the Stampede, but sometimes i call it tomato.

My college used to use Greek and Roman Gods and figures (Romulus and Remus, Zeus, etc. Rom & Rem were twin servers...)

I just use the workgroup/domain name with a descriptive term, e.g. WILEE_P3650 or WILEE_DESKTOP

Pick your favorite book/TV show/movie and use characters from it.

I've never named my computer. Never even gave it a thought until this thread.

I do name my cars though. My current car is named Bucephalus.

My current scheme is superhero girlfirends: Right now My computer is Gwen Stacey and my brothers is MJ. When my mom gets hers Im sure it will be something chintzy like Lois Lane.
