I've seen this subject on the cover of a couple magazines, and wanted to get other peoples opinions.


1) If you are seeing one person, exclusively, and you're the only person they are seeing, does this automatically make you two a couple? Or are both you free to see other people?

Not a couple until it is talked about, I don't think anything can be assumed or implied. You may not be seeing someone, but they may be and you just don't know. But even if neither person is seeing anyone else, I don't think you are a couple until you agree to be exclusive. Nothing is automatic.

With my ex, I was dating a few other people when I met him and I was up front with him about it, but he chose not to date anyone else even though I was. We were NOT a couple until I was only dating him and I felt ready to tell him I was committed to just him. Otherwise, date your little heart out.

Is it good to be spontaneous or scripted??

I was pretty up front about it. I asked him if he was interested in seeing other people. When he said no I asked him if he wanted to keep it that way. He agreed :-)

I think it's better to get it out of the way. Screw mind games...
