Night of the Lepus on LI

Has anyone else noticed an increase in the number of rabbits on LI? There were always some, but steadily i've notices more and more. And not just in Suffolk, but Nassau too. Is it that i just never noticed them before, or are we facing the plot line of a bad 1972 movie?

I live in suffolk and I've definitely seen an increase in the rabbit population over the past few years. Now their is a baby bunny living under the shed in my back yard, and I've seen more in my neighbors yard. <P>

Back in the late 70's and early 80's there would be literally hundreds of them around dusk on the grass at the side of the highways leading to Jones Beach and Robert Moses. We used to have contests counting them.
