i know the urbanites might not relate but for us suburbans these are some of the things i remember about my summers as a kid....
now its all work and beer--a vicous cycle.

I remember playing Bug Zapper Tag. Someone wouls stand under the bug zapper until they caught a dead bug in their mouth. Then they would chase everyone else. When they spit it on you, you were it. !!!

i once put a lightinening bug up in sisters ear to see if there was anything in there. she was asleep and screamed. my mom thought I was trying to look under her skirt again and beat me silly for days.

We just got back from camping down at the shore for the weekend. The top of our tent has mesh "windows" that we left open because of the heat.
At 2 in the morning I woke up to see a couple of dozen lightning bugs hanging out on the top of the mesh. Like a planetarium show. One of the coolest things I've seen in a long time.

Fireflies is what youse call them here in Joisey. When I was growing up on Lung Island we called them Lightning Bugs.
