The little fucker snuck out the backdoor again last night. I just stood outside for the past hour (in the rain) calling him and trying to get him back. Ungrateful cat. Doesn't know what side his bread is buttered on.
Ok-- rant's over. I'm going back outside.

These cats are just so hard to raise, nowadays...and then, to make it up to you and show you their love, they bring you home a "present" - a dead, half eaten mouse.

Just get another kitten already.
Although this happened with my niece's cat Cody. They freaked out the first time he went out. They were worried the second time he went out. They threw him out the door the third time. Now he comes and goes 15 times a day. As long as he starts finding his way hoe on his own don't worry.

We were lucky. Most of the cats my parents had didn't know what to do once they got out. They usually just skulked around the bushes meowing. You just walked over, picked them up and threw them back in the house. We did have a few adventurous ones though.....

Hell, its just cats. If we wanted loyalty we would have gotten dogs. But dogs are in your face all the time needing attention. Cats only need you some of the time. And dogs have to be walked. My cats go out on their own to shit and piss. The only mess they make indoors is puking. Once we got a still living slug on the dining room floor that way.
I wonder if R and F have any pets; they claim not but it may just be schtick.
P.S. One of our two cats just came up on the desk here to keep me company. They ain't all bad.

her name is ZuZu
As in "It's a Wonderful Life," right? If I had any musical talent, I would have named my band "ZuZu Petals," which is, ironically, the name of Paul Westerberg's wife's band.
The little creep came back. He was headed back up the fire escape as I went back down to the backyard. Alice, one of my other cats, hissed at him when she sniffed him. Serves him right! He's getting a bath later.
They freaked out the first time he went out. They were worried the second time he went out. They threw him out the door the third time. Now he comes and goes 15 times a day. As long as he starts finding his way hoe on his own don't worry.
Last time he got out I was really upset. This time around I was more annoyed than anything. Eh, Otis is a little poof-- he's a "Wigger" among the real Jersey City street cats. He still thinks Kid 'n Play is topical.

i hate it when cats run away. don't they realize that all I want to do treat them special? i have their little blankets for the. I have their favorite toys. I feed them. I play with them......
Okay - maybe i get too friendly with them but hey, i'm only human and whiskers looks really hot sometimes. especially when she saunters into the room and rubs up against my leg. what is one man to do? I ask you....what am I too do?

Well you can loosen that pussy up with some cat nip. Slip some date rape drugs into it and then go for the gold!

Fuzzy-
You better check him for tattoos and piercings. He might've joined a gang. Any cat food places get broken into last night?

Alice, I think that you and Otis need to sit down and talk. You have to get down to the root of the reason of why he keeps running away. Maybe he is running with the wrong crowd, maybe he is selling drugs? You have to open all lines of communication. Before its too late you need to take a stand against his behavior.

Those pointy headed liberal types will tell you that cat nip is no worse than booze, but the hard trueth is that it inevitably leads to harder stuff; household plants, mouse heads, Drano and worse. The ONLY way to help Otis now is to turn him into the cops. A few years in Rahway and he will be a good, compliant kitty, if a bit bowlegged and high tailed.
