You should talk to Earth2Ron, he's not shy in his posts and he says he is in real life! :) We'll see if that's true...
I don't have much advice. I'm not a shy person. As long as you look approachable I will usually go talk to someone, oh and if someone else initiates the conversation and asks a question, say more than yes or no. That really bugs me when I try to make the effort to talk to someone who seems shy and they aren't helping. Don't make it hard :)

Yeah I'm really shy too..
but I don't really see it as a problem or something.. it's just the way I am.. I do sometimes wonder if people who aren't shy have a more easy life.. it sometimes kinda looks like that to me.. and guys just seem to go for the loud annoying girls (what the hell are they thinking?!?!?)

I've always been a subscriber to the theory that it'll be so much better for everyone involved if I just keep my mouth shut and not make my presence known....
...ok, usually...

I've been very shy my whole life. I actually was on Paxil my final 2 years in high school because it was that bad. But, being shy isn't always a bad thing. I think that I am a lot more aware of stuff going on around me, and I'm also more in tune to other people's feelings. You learn good observation skills by being a shy person.

I suffer from the same thing. But i'm only shy if i'm interested. But if i'm around a group of guys or a group of chicks that i'm not really diggin on, i'm all kinds of out going. Who knows?
Sorry, I'll sit down now.

I used to be shy, until I analyzed it. So, you go up to a person and you start up a conversation, and they're not "into you". OK, you walk away with a small bruise on your ego, perhaps, but it's not like you've been beaten up physically, or robbed.
Take your disappointments in the same stride that you take your achievements. Don't shelter yourself, because you'll miss out on a lot.

thats how i learn about people by watching how they act!like i always say i rather listen to someone talk rather than not hear what they are saying.

Isn't that the truth! I was super shy growing up. Around 10 I realized I didn't have too many friends (yes, I'm open for an easy joke right here, I know), but I couldn't talk to anyone. What ended up happening was my observation skills shot way up.
I'm pretty aware of little things. I actually have this joyful obsession with the little things in life. Because of my shyness, I developed this different perspective. Imagine actually enjoying life everyday, seeing every little thing that's truly speical in this world. Spotting the diamonds in the rough, and collecting a truck load of them everyday. People always tell me that time flies by. I can never understand that. Everyday is long for me.
It really doesn't suck for me being shy. My shyness actually gave me this subtle appreciation of things that most people would never know. My observation skills flourished; jumping from getting to know people to getting to know me and the world I live in.
Of course, it still does suck that I can't walk up to a woman who blows me away. And it sucks that I have this humor mechinism that turns on when I like a girl and I'm nervous. But still...it doesn't suck so bad.

I am shy too until I get to know someone and feel comfortable, then i'm wide open. The trick is looking approachable. If you gotta a smile on your face and you look happy and nice, you don't have to do anything, they will come to you.
