As much as I dislike the guy, he does bring up good points from time to time. And the fact that he's getting canceled for what he said is total BS.

I don't agree with what he agreed with regarding the "warriors" comment, but the fact that that is why he was cancelled is baloney.

But anyway, the last shows are on tomorrow night and friday obviously.

I'm sure it's Bill who's saying they're cancelling the show because he's "too controversial". The reality is most likely what's been stated by Fallon: his show wasn't doing well enough to justify its continued existence. I'd rather have Jimmy Kimmel than Bill Maher.

It sort of sad what happened to Bill. When the show started on Comedy Central, I watched it, and enjoyed it. When it moved to ABC, something changed with Maher. Suddenly every show was just him making some assinine statement, and then berating any of his guests who disagreed with him. I'm not sorry to see him go.

It's a good show but Bill Maher is an ass. When Bill Maher made his comments about 9/11 he lost sponsors and ratings. It makes no sense to keep an unprofitable, unpopular show just to prove that an asshole like that should be able to say whatever he says.

You're obviously didn't understand his statement. He was calling the people make decisions to fire cruise rockets at the enemy from 2000 miles away cowards. Yes, it is cowardly...modern warfare is designed to prevent human casualties on your side as much as possible. Its a cleaner way of killing...there is no honor in it. Look at Band of Brothers and what they had to go through to win a war. Modern warfare pales in comparison.

As for his statemen regarding the cowardice of the fanatics who flew into the towers, he's right. Its not cowardly to kill yourself by flying a plane into a building. It's insanity, and it takes fucking huge brass balls to take your own life.

Our governements position that it was a "cowardly act" is utterly ridiculous. I diddn't see the guy who pushes the button on the cruise missle rockets reach 5000 degrees in two seconds.

In terms of ratings, he never got good numbers. Sorry to say, but that 12:05am timeslot aint all that productive for anyone, and he never got great ratings to begin with.

Secondly, he did not make that statement completely on his own. Of course its only semantics, but Dinesh DSouza said something of the like, and Mahr agreed with him, while going farther and saying that those pressing the button firing missiles from miles away was cowardly.

And sure he was a pompous ass. That was part of his personality, and what helped to make the show a success in the first place. Bill OReilly is exactly the same way.

I absolutely agree. And furthermore, Bush recently called the terrorists "clever killers". That sure sounds partially like a compliment, and while lesser in intensity that calling them warriors, isnt it un-American to say that too??

FMJ, I forget who said this but they made a great point. The savages who flew those planes into the buildings were NOT brave!!! As far as they were concerned, they were going to paradise, with 40 (or however many) virgins to be the chosen of Allah. Where's the bravery in that? The Heaven's Gate cult also thought they were going to heaven after they ate their applesauce, put on their Nikes and hitched a ride on a comet. Were they fucking brave too? Don't give those monsters credit for anything. They killed thousands of innocent, civilian men and women in an unprovoked, sneak attack. They're nothing but animals.

First of all, I am from NYC. Secondly, I spent 4 years in the US Army as an Infantryman and if I was not offended by Bill M's statementsm then I don't think ANYONE should be. His remarks are, in fact, accurate. As stated in other posts, no matter what anyone says to the contrary, it DOES take courage to kill yourself for your cause/beliefs. It's not my opinion, it is a fact. Ask yourself, if an American Serviceman (or woman) crashed a vehicle into the AlQueda headquarters (or other strategic location) that American would be praised beyond belief. Headlines would read; Headlines would read: "AMERICAS HERO" and such. We'd be naming high-schools after the guy! He'd probably have his face on a brand new dollar bill, and needless to say every Football stadium would be renamed.
What those "pilots" did to the WTC was inexcusable and unforgivable, but it was not specifically "a cowardly act".
If Osama/AlQueda launched missles from a ship or plane 250 miles away, American would've called THAT a cowardly act.

Earlier, someone typed that we give Al Queda too much credit and I agree, but not for the same reasons. Everytime we state publicly that "we are down,but we're not out." and "we WILL rebuild" we are basically saying "You've hurt us!". Personally, it's the not the message I want to send. Even worse, I've actually heard White House correspondants and commentators call their plan "Genius"!!! Actually used the word "GENIUS"!! And they haven't recieved any flak for it. I'm amazed by that.

In the effort to make Americans feel safe at night, the President has flip flopped between saying we were "suckerpunched" and also that "this was a well thought-out, well funded, meticulous plan that must've taken months if not YEARS to plan and execute".
Again, in my opinion, I don't sleep BETTER knowing that we can be suckerpunched that severely or his back peddling argument that we were victims of a "well thought out plan". Either way, it gives our enemy too much credit.
Certainly more than Bill Maher ever did.

I don't believe this. First of all, let's compare apples to apples. An American airman attacking an Al-Qaeda outpost would be a military strike, not civilian massacre. Second of all, it would happen in a time of war, not relative peace. What I'm getting at here is this was not some bold genius tactic launched by a sanctioned military or government. This was a cowardly assault on a group of unaware innocents. These pigs weren't defending themselves. They weren't even launching an offensive. All they were trying to do was slide a knife into our backs because they're too AFRAID to come at us from the front. If they're so fucking brave, why did we have to investigate to find out who did it? Why didn't the Al-Qaeda broadcast a message claiming responsibility? That would have shown some balls. I refer back to the Heaven's Gate cult, were they brave? If a Christian Fundamentalist flies a plane into an abortion clinic, which is more like what this attack was, is he brave? No. You wanna see bravery? Watch a young wife and mother trying not to break down as she explains to her 5 year old son why his daddy isn't coming home. Watch the tapes of the Firemen charging into a collapsing building to save others, and then watch the tapes of those same firemens' lifeless bodies being carried out by their brothers. That's bravery.
