Now for people that have seen me know that i'm pleasently obese and i don't deny it. But due to my weight i have missed many opportunities to chat with someone i've found interesting wheter it's cashier at the supermarket charging me for the 30 pound tub of mayonnaise i found or the girl at the sci fi convention wearing the princess Leia slave costume from Return Of The Jedi. Anyhow is anyone else on this board experiencing this same problem or are you using your washboard flab to your advantage?

That's not really a fair comparison. Obviously, who'd want to be with the person who doesn't "have fun"? What about a choice between someone who works out regularly but doesn't live at the gym, generally eats a healthy diet but not to the point of obsession, and "has fun" versus someone who only drinks beer, eats junk food, gets fat and sits around watching tv all the time and never does anything else?

Here's the deal.

Being fat is bad. American society dictates that you can't be obese (note, I said OBESE, not overweight) and be attractive.

I had to learn that the hard way. I was never comfortable in my own skin when I was heavy.

Don't give me that love is blind crap, either. Granted, looks aren't the cornerstone that true love is built on, but looks are the foot in the door. You need to have some physical compatibility with a significant other.

People are programmed to think that fat = bad and obesity = disgusting.

As for making fun of yourself because you're overweight, that's just as bad.

Women like a sense of humor, but they also want confidence too. You need to find a combination of the both.

If you're overweight, be comfortable in your own skin and exude that confidence, otherwise, find confidence in yourself.

My whole gimmick with women that I was overweight and constantly bashed myself for being the scary fat dude to get cheap laughs. As Chris Farley said, Fatty fall down, go boom.

If you want to bash me, go right ahead. I've experienced enough to realize what I say is gospel, and people who say "be happy with yourself" never had to wear an ugly-ass 4XL shirt from the big and tall men's shop.

Yes...depends on the person and thier individual taste...most girls understand how much dedication it requires to have a six pack or big biceps...so they allow a little softness in those areas...others demand a tight body...then there are some that really don't care as long as they make them happy...there's so many different types of women for so many different types of men...don't worry about it dude...im not exactely chiseled out of stone either and i get my fair share..

i personally enjoy dating chubbier guys... who have a decent self confidence but can also joke around once in a while. i once was with a guy obsessed with his personal appearance, so much so he would have about 4 different outfits he'd change into at parties, just so people would notice him <i>more</i>. the guy i'm "infatuated" ((for lack of a better word)) with is a lil chubbier, but i love it.

as for me, i think im too fat at times, but that stems back to a certain person calling me a "fat worthless piece of shit" for the last 10+ years. *shrugs*

It's different when girls are fat. If you walk into The Gap, for example, the guys sizes go up to a bigger size than the girl sizes. Guys are "allowed" by society to be bigger than girls. I'm a big girl, and if someone sees me, before I even open my mouth to speak, they think i'm a fat slob who sit home all day and shovels food into my mouth (by the way, not true).

My boyfriend weighs less than me and is only about an inch or two taller than me. It sucks having a thinner (thinner, not thin) boyfriend because I feel less feminine around him than I would around a 6'5 250lb guy.

We've been together 3 years and I still feel like a fat nothing when we go out and people look at us like "why is he with THAT".

Anybody else watch Jerry Springer or Maury to feel better about themselves?

(p.s. before this boyfriend i had lots of guys, skinny, fat, whatever. What matters most to me is a cute face and the amount of affection I get)

I guess this would be the thread to ask it so here it goes. I'm 6 feet tall, 251 pounds. I tend to picture myself as overweight but not obeese (I know I spelt that wrong). How would you guys describe me?

For most of my life I have been very reserved with woman due to a lot of hang ups (mostly from my family) and haven't acted on my feelings. I know for a fact this has caused a lot of missed opportunities. Recently I have started seeing someone after a long drought, and besides the fact that she's a little clingy and way too emotional, I can do no wrong in her eyes and it really has boosted my confidence.
