I think they stopped doing the show because Mr. Wizard died.

Funny, He could show you how to make a laser out of a flashlight and some dry ice, but he couldn't unlock the secret of eternal life.

That show did rock though. But they shouldn't bring in a new Mr. Wizard. Wouldn't be right somehow.

Remember the kids on that show..they were always the same three retarts who knew absolutely nothing about the world and Mr Wiz had to explain everything to them.

MW: This is fire Ally.
Kid: Fire? Whats that?

I loved that show!

Favorite 5 segments:

1. When they played with Liquid Nitrogen, and froze shit to break. Remember how the rose froze, then shattered into dust? COOL! And the Hot Dog was neat too.

2. When they put up walls of paper or something around the ends of the counter on the kitchen set, and dropped dry ice into the sink full of water. The mist it made created a cloud that looked like a lot of fun to hang out in.

3. That cool robot that could say short phrases, and take commands. It looked REALLY cool then, but like a toaster on wheels by today's standards.

4. The cool fireworks they shot off! It wasn't very scientific, but it was a great excuse to shoot off fire works. And the little twerp he had was frightened, if I remember correctly.

5. The best! They used a lot of foil , magnifying glasses, and tubes to cook food with the sun! So Don set up all this cool shit, and the kid got to come on an eat sun cooked hot dogs, with baked apples for dessert.

Bonus shit I just remembered!

The time he fed that girl food with her nose closed, and she couldn't taste it until she took away her fingers, and inhaled to demonstrate that taste and smell go hand in hand.

Also, that time they shot off the model rocket. Again, not VERY scientific, just another excuse to shoot shit off!

I remember one where he had the kid design the strongest bridge possible with three strips of plywood. They played around with all designs before finally coming up with an I-beam, which was the correct answer.
Another time, he made a homemade fire extinguisher out of a glass jar, backing powder, and vineger. In a different episode, but related, he showed how a ceiling fire extinguisher in buildings work. God I miss that show.

I remembered another. He had a guy stand on the 3rd or 4th floor of a building, and try to suck grape juice through a straw and couldn't. Then they tried to do it with a pump, and it couldn't do it either. He wanted to show that the effect of gravity on the column of juice made it impossible to be pumped that high.
Another was when he put one sheet of newpaper over the end of a yard stick, and showed that the surface area of the paper made enough air resistance as to allow for the yardstick to be broken.
I'd like to point out that anything done in the room where his computer was, was most likely boring

THANK YOU TAZZ! I just remembered another thing too after reading your memories!

Remember when Mr. Wiz filled a coffee can on a string with something heavy, and hung it from a swing set? Then, he put one of the dopy kids back a few steps, and had him hold the can up to his chin, and let it go. It WOULD NOT be able to swing out, and come back to hit him, because of lost energy due to friction of the air, gravity ,and other shit. But the kid still moved! EVEN AFTER MR. WIZARD TOLD HIM NOT TO!

NEVER disobey Mr. Wizard!

And you're right Tazz. I don't have too many memories of cool shit happening in the computer room. The kitchen was Da Bomb! And anything outside was usually cool, because it mwant it was too messy or dangerous to do in the studio!

i watched that show all the time too, i loved it. here's some of my memories.

- he had a girl stand on her head and eat an apple to demonstrate that you could eat upside down.

- when they folded and taped a piece of paper into a wing shape and put the paper over a stick, then they blew across the top and it showed how air pressure could LIFT

- my all time favorite was when he had a chemical substance called (sp.) "lacker podium", it was like a powder. he poured the powder in a fish tank full of water. the powder floats on the surface then he put his hand down in the fish tank where the powder was and into the water. when he pulled his hand back out of the tank it was completely dry. that was so cool back then.

thanx for the mammories

There was one experiment that he did with a timed chemical reaction. I know it involved iodine, but don't remember what else.

It was two clear containers of what looked like water on the table, he had the kid pour one into another and back and forth, then the "water" turned black.

Then when he showed the difference in flamability of Hydrogen and Helium. Helium= little fireball. Hydrogen= NICE BIG ONE!
