I am a bass player and I can trace my roots back to my father who is also a bass player...and gave me reason to want to become a bass player...
But there are other bass players in music that made me want to play bass. The first of these bass players is Flea.
Flea f**kin' rocks hard with his funky kick ass style!
Jaco Pastorius and James Jamerson are 2 other bass players that have influenced me.
What bass players do you have in your book of Greatest Musicians?

OUCH!! I've been playing Bass for almost 20 years and I've never heard even ONE Bass joke! I've heard aboot a million drummer jokes and lead singers take alot of heat in the studio, but bass players?!? It's a thankless instrument!
I love the one aboot "the guitar player has to show him first".
However... did anyone ever notice that most Bass players are "the fat guy" in most bands?? Take a look at a band photo for some unknown band and try to pick out the bass player. $10 that you picked the heaviest dude and $10 says you're right.
One of those unexplained phenomenon. Kinda like crop circles.

Gotta say, out of all the musicians I've dated, the bass players were the BIGGEST weenies.

And I said "were" not "had." If they had had big weenies I might have considered putting up with their stupidity for a while.
