tHE Irish only have 2 points. They need to beat the Saudis, shouldn't be a problem, and need for Cameroon to lose to Germany.

As for the US, we're 3 points ahead of where i thought we'd be. A victory over Poland and we'll be in good shape. S. Korea's a good team, I say we'll tie them.

A lot of people are backing Brazil right now. I'm not convinced. They struggled to qualify and their first round opponents were not of the best quality. No doubt they're a good team and have incredible goal scoring ability, but there defense is not up to scratch. Anyone who can exploit that has a very good chance of beating them. Which brings me to my next point. Denmark. Unfortunately they're playing England tommorrow, so call it nationalism but I've got a feeling England are going to win. Aside from that, Denmark has been the team that has most impressed me so far. If they get past England, they're my pick to win it all.

That was a great game. Got kind if chippy at the end but everyone kind of expected that. I think the US has a legitimate shot at beating Germany. Consider that Germany didn't score until the 88th minute against Paraguay. Friedel will have to stand tall again, though. McBride and Donovan are having a good tournament.

Congrats to Team USA. Now, if they wanna beat the Krauts, Friedel is gonna have to stand on his head. the Germans are hurtin, but you can never count them out. England's got Brazil coming up, and I think they stand a pretty good chance. With Brazil's weak defense, and if England keep on with their own heavy defense and score on the break tactic, they should do well. A majority of Brazil's attacks come down the left so with Maniac Mills and Beckham on that side England should be able of stifle them. Brazil are gonna get their 1 or 2 goals, so we need to make sure we convert on opportunities. I like our chances.

I am now expecting an England-Spain Final, although Brazil may knock out the Brits. I think the USA will most likely lose to Germany(bastards!)

6-21-02 The Empire Strikes Out. That was, without a doubt, the most uninspired half of soccer I've ever seen. I don't know what happened. They started out fairly well, but once they gave up the second goal, England fell to pieces. Any type of strategy went comletely out the window. Kicking the ball as hard as you can up the field does not equal quality play. Brazil once again proved they are still the class of international soccer. Even down a man they controlled the ball and dominated the game. What can you say about them? They are an incredibly talented team and a pleasure to watch play. I smell a golden trophy in their future.

Team USA just lost to Germany. They played incredibly well. Showed the heart of true champions. In a sport where they still struggle to get respect , I think they went a long way to earning it today. They're coming home early, but in no way should they be ashamed of their performance. Gotta go to work now (yawn)

Seaman should have made that save, and playing most of the second half with a man advantage..they sucked.
As for USA-Germany: you gotta give the USA it's due, they made history and made us proud.

Alright, I was rushed this morning, had to get to work, so I didn't get a chance to give my full opinion of the US - Ger game. Being born in England, I've been watching and playing soccer since before I could even walk. I have never seen a team play with more heart (I hate to repeat myself, but it's the only way to describe it) than the US did today. They were absolutely spent at the end of 90 minutes. They were practically crawling off the field. Had it not been for a poor referee decision and the lights out play of the German keeper, we'd be talking about more history having been made today. The US proved that they are able to stand shoulder to shoulder with the elite teams of the world and represent themselves and us honorably. If England had played with half the intensity of the US they would have beaten Brazil. But this isn't about that. This is about giving credit to a team that even I, a self-professed soccer snob, had dismissed. I was wrong. They played their asses off, left everything on the pitch and they deserve all the credit in the world.

You know, it's kinda funny. After all the hullabaloo and shock of the upstart teams' surprise victories, look who's left standing at the end. Germany and Brazil. A very good argument can be made that they are, historicaly, the best two countries to play the game, at least in the top 3, Italy being the other. So this is what it comes down to. I look forward to a classic game, the Germans tall and strong, and Brazil, "a symphony on grass" (Heck, 3:16). Looks like when the bucket gets shook, the cream rises to the top.

all in all i would have to say that it was a great world cup,and i for one have to give to USA their probs cause i didnt think the yould go as far as they did.all i need now is for team Jamaica to make the cut in 2006,so that i can be a happy camper:)
