Boxing:Explain the Appeal

OK, I am a huge sports fan but it is very hard for me to get into boxing. It's not that violence bothers me, I love hockey because of the physicality. I just don't see what is so interesting about watching two guys slowly become brain dead. I recently got HBO and have been watching some of the middle weight fights which are alot more fun to watch. I am planning on watching the Holyfield fight and the Tyson/Lewis fight, but I just wanted to hear from some fans about why they like it so much!

Boxing is okay, the heavyweight division really sucks now. I'm going to watch Tyson vs. Lewis.

Speaking of boxing, some of you guys probably hate Stuttering John, maybe you can see him get his ass whooped tonight. Today he fights Cabbie and it will air on E! tonight from 11-12.

There is really a lot more to boxing that just throwing haymakers at your opponents head, if the athelte is truly a boxer. Tyson used to be one, now he's just a fighter.

There's a lot to know; how to fight a southpaw as opposed to a right-hander, how to counter punch, certain combinations of punches, how to get "inside" a taller opponent with a longer reach, etc.

When two skilled pugilists go at it, it really is "the sweet science", and I agree the lighter weight classes usually make for more interesting and exciting fights.

Anybody see the fight last night? The Rock got a HUGE bump on his head when he and Holyfield knocked heads. They had to stop the fight it was so bad, Holyfield won by points.

It was freaken gross, in a matter of seconds it grew this big:

On one of my ECW DVD's it shows a guy trying to do a suicide dive to the outside, but his feet got caught on the ropes and he lands on the ground face first. His bump was just as big as Rahman's.
