Watching the ceremony today was sad for me because I knew three people who deid in the World Trade Center tragedy.

As mentioned in another post, My close friend Glorias uncle- Angel Juarbe- firefighter out of Chelsea,
My friends wife- Judith Diaz Sierra- who worked on one of the top floors of building two,
& Louis Ramirez- a maintenance man who worked in WTC building one.

I guess I just wanted to remind people that even though some people have taken the flags off their cars and its been a few months, to remember the people who deid because they were people just like us, who did what we do, have families, have lives, like music, like things that we like. These people shouldnt be forgotten. If anyone else lost anyone- I feel your pain.

Luckily, I know people whose loved ones survived.

I'm still haunted by all the missing flyers that were put up all around the city. I'm even more haunted by the fact that they all slowly came down.

You make me feel like I am whole again

No, but someone I know's brother was stuck in that elevator the window washer dude broke them out of with his tools saving their lives. He declined to go on a television show to talk about it (i think it was dateline). I'm also friends with someone who finished an internship with a financial securities firm (i forget the name) which was located on one of the top floors, was offered a job the week before 9/11 and declined it. He goes about his life in a completely different manner now, never taking one day for granted.

WANTED: a show-related sig.

My cousin lost her husband - Joe Vilardo who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald.
A guy who I used to work with, who was working for the Port Authority at the time, got out.

Two people that I lost were: Firefighter Greg Sikorsky and Sgt John Coughlin of ESU truck 4.

I had tutored Johns daughter all last summer and at our volunteer fire company's annual Labor Day picnic I was drinking and talking history with him all night. John was a man that would have lengthy discussions of history and a man who helped me to make it more fun. More enjoyable. He always had a behind the scene story about something important in history, like Patton got drunk and pissed on Montgomery, or something along those lines...he is a person whom I have patterned my teaching techniques behind and a pleasure to always talk to about a subject and how it related to todays world. At the picnic we discussed the space race and how it helped America and where America should go. I went home to retrieve a book I had read by Gene Kranz to give to John to read. Told him it was great and had a lot of behind the stories stuff that he loved. That Sunday before Labor Day was the last time that I saw him...

He was the first person that I really knew who had perished in that terrorist attack. I will miss him dearly. It was sad going to a memorial service when there really isnt anything to bury. And there probably wount be anything to bury either, for he is one of the people not found. Writing this now hurts, and I am not going to lie in saying that I am tearing up. You never know how much you miss someone until they are truly gone

A reason that I miss John is that I know deep down in my heart that he would have of agreed with me that we should rebuild the towers. That to not do so would show the world that the "Dream is over". That we are closed to opporitunitys, that the idea of building something out of nothing is gone. That is what I feel, and I know that John would have of agreed with me...

I miss ya brother, and everyone here will do everything we can for your family. That you can count on...
