I was at work today and I made it a point to turn the radio to an AM station to hear the closing ceremony's. It was very hard to listen to and understand. Its hard to understand that after about 9 months of cleanup it is finally comming to an end. Its hard to understand that we have given up on thoses who were lost and never recovered at ground zero. Why is it called a clossing ceremony, This isnt the olympics?
As the ceremony went on what hit me the most was the bells ringing sybolizing a fallen firefighter. Lastly what got me the most and really made me emotional was America the Beautiful being played by the pipers and drums. As it played I stared outside , across the street from me at the greatest symbol of what we stand for. Our American Flag. God Bless America We Will NEVER Forget

It really was touching, and I was listening on AM radio as well. The amazing thing was that almost everybody that was part of the clean up crew felt awful that so many people were never recovered.

It is a testament to their dedication and compassion that they didn't feel like being honored for such an amazing job (they accomplished in 8 and half months what most estimated would take from 12-18 months) but left with a sense that they never completed their task.

My heart still aches for every single person that was touched by the attacks in one way or another, but it's also uplifting to see that the American spirit lives on, stronger than ever.

I heard most of it at work. My original message was lost here somehow, so I'll try again. I read "Report from Ground Zero" recently, and hearing this today brought back everything I've read & seen about the heroism involved in the recovery effort. What kind of strength is required to have done this kind of work day after backbreaking, heartbreaking day?
Never forget.

I think it was very respectable that noone like rudy or pataki made speeches, nothing more needs to be said about this event, the site speaks a thousand speeches by itself. I wonder how long it will be to rebuild something.

Fact: A cat will always blink when hit on the head with a hammer. Thats a fact.

I was watching it at home, and it really touched my heart. I think it was done very correctly and very respectful,

I just hope that the steel and construction workers that I met, and all of those who've worked tirelessly these past months are invited/allowed to come back and take part in whatever rebuilding effort ends up taking place. These guys are absolutely deserving of our praise and our thanks. They are some of the most decent people I've ever met.

The only thing i gotta say is that I was at work and I tried to "watch" it on Eartcam and you would think that they would have done a better job at pointing their cameras to the main sight but they just had their usual shitty positions. Listened to it on the radio, though, prett depressing all over again. It just gives us another reason to just go over there and just kill them all!!!

The closing ceremony was done well.
no speaches, just some pipes and drums. very touching.
I hope they rebuild bigger. not doing so, in my opinion, is a clear sign we're holding back.
also, I'd rather a newer building be seen as a target, over something with some history, god forbid something happens again.

xoxoxo,
Rev
