View Full Version : FBI Reorganization - Do you Feel Safe?

I just read the FBI is moving 400 agents from narcotics to terrorism. Now
that's what I call a competent law enforcement agency. Well, at least we'll
all be high on coke the next time we get bombed.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't terrorism funded by the drug trade?
Why weren't these resources allocated when the
WTC was bombed THE FIRST TIME? This is just as symbolic as the tattered WTC
flag and the "last column" to be taken down. The government is providing the
illusion of security for its citizens. "We're transferring 400 people to
terrorism. Feel safe." Sorry, I don't, because now there's 400 less people
watching the drug cartels who quite frankly do more damage to this country
than terrorists do.
400 more agents in the terrorist unit...Bin Laden is shaking in his boots...

I have had much dealings with the FBI, especially recently. I don't feel safe or secure when they're involved. They'll always botch up a case.

i don't feel safe, but i don't let it run my life. i never trust the governement. bin laden at least has the decency to be honest in his hatred for us, the government has to hide it.

yeah, terrorism in south america would be funded by drugs, but that's more anti-government(local, not ours) than Anti-US or Anti-western culture.
Another source of funding for terrorism, constuction companies. Let's not forget where Bib laden get's his fortune from, or who built the later destroyed marine barracks in Saudi Arabia; the Bin Laden Group.
Why the hell did we use them?

not the entire drug trade. terrorism is partially funded through deals made through cocaine, heroin (especially), and other high priced drugs.
drugs such as pot, mushrooms, speed, extacy, etc. are either too bulky, too cheap or too easily made inside our borders to make enough of a profit for it to be a worthwhile investment.
for a more vivid example of this. I suggest playing the boardgame "stash" or especially the computer game "drug wars." they make it very easy to see where the big money comes from, and why only small timers sell weed

leave it to the hippie to defend pot. :)
and most pot in the US come from Mexico, not from within our boarder.

I'm glad they are focusing on "real crimes". I believe in a harm reduction approach to drug use. I feel it is wasteful seeing my tax dollars funding this war against freedom of choice. America has more people in prison than any other country. I want terrorists, rapists and murderers in prison. As it is now, drug sentencing guidelines for judges give them no leeway, and drug users are in jail longer than murderers and rapists.
If the government wanted to do something, they would crack down on all the American businesses who send Methyl Ethyl Keytone(a cocaine precursor) to South American countries. The stuff is getting into the waterways and is an environmental disaster.
And I won't even get into all the AIDS/cancer patients who can't get medicinal marijuana because of Draconian federal law and schedule lll classification.(except in California, Colorado, and a handful of states) A Schedule lll rating is the government telling you that marijuana is AS BAD AS heroin. If children are to believe this crap, and try marijuana to find it's not so bad, they may try heroin with the notion that "Well, If they lied about marijuana, they probably lied about heroin too". We need MORE trust in our government, not LESS.
