View Full Version : You've Lost That Loving Feeling
Have you ever inexplicably fallen "out of love" with someone? I mean, you still care very deeply for them, but the passion and excitement just leaves the relationship.
What causes it? Is it familiarity? Boredom? And is there any way to rekindle a romance once it's on life support?

i feel personally, for me, its boredum... i need to be entertained. and if a relationship falls into a routine, thats it for me.

Gvac:
This is acutally how my last relationship ended. We dated for a year and a half, and we were both admittedly madly in love with each other, it wasnt boredom or anything like that though, we just became friends. The love just disappeared. This guy is still my best friend in the whole wide universe and we're just as close, justi wth out all the kissiness. We often talk about what happeend, but neither of us can figure it out. Just another one of love's mysteries I suppose....

The best example of this for me was with this girl i dated about 3 years ago. One morning I woke up and just realized that the love was gone, and that I felt completely different about her. I guess it was a revelation in a way, because I broke up with her that day and never have regretted it. I guess sometimes you fall out of love slowly, and other times it's sudden. Loves a funny thing.

Hollywood has scripted us to believe that love controls our actions in a relationship. In fact, it's the opposite: love is a verb, not a feeling. It's something you do: the sacrifices you make, the giving, etc. Sooner or later, "that loving feeling" runs out on the best of them. It's how you handle shit from there that makes couples work.

This thread reminds of that song from top gun. I think the righteous brothers originally done it, but there might of been someone before. I know hall and oates did the song too. Hall and oates are from philly.

You are so right Satin Doll. It's chemistry. I was with my ex-boyfriend for 3 years and never felt it with him. We had a blast, I learned a lot from him which made me a better person but we were missing that one thing....chemistry. Holding him was like holding a friend or hugging a relative. After a while, I felt like I deserved more and then I started demanding more...which isn't supposed to happen. Things are better when they are unexpected and not ordered. He would give in sometimes and do what I asked but I could see his heart wasn't into it and that he didn't even care. I realized then that there is no way to change a persons habits. People will never change. Slowly, I stopped loving him. We slowly broke up but now we're good friends. <P>

Am I in heaven here or am I in hell?
Now you're sleeping peaceful, I lie awake and pray that you'll be strong tomorrow and we'll see another day together....just so I can see the smile across your face.
