I was around 7 or 8, on vacation in Tennessee. I shot my Uncle's 12 gauge shotgun and it almost knocked me on my ass. Years later, I shot many weapons down on their farm, and to this day I go shooting at the range with my law enforcement buddies. Damn, ammunition is expensive, but what fun!

I have yet to experience that thrill! But I plan on it! Of course, after proper training!

But I remember the first time I held my Dad's police gun. I was in my teens and it was a very powerful feeling, knowing what I could possibly do with that thing! :-)

There are "turkey shoots" where the turkeys are released and you have to chase them and shoot them. I think it's awful. I say hunt if you want, but do it correctly.

I fired a shotgun at targets on the fantail of a Navy cruiser. I was also going to shoot a .45 but they ran out of ammo at the time.

I was 11. Myself, my father, uncle, and cousin went upstate to my uncle's farm. I shot a 12 gauge, a .38, and a .25
we used an old dead tree as a target.

Since then, I've shot many weapons. I'm used to using a .40 Barretta as my old service firearm.

My Favorite is the H&K USP

My parents took me out into the Arizona desert when I was about 12. They set up a gallon milk jug full of water and had me shoot it with my mom's .45 to show me what happens when you shoot a person. My first shot went through the indented circle in the center of the jug and blew out the back. It made an impression on me, and I've taken guns seriously since then.

But a few years later I had to put the same gun in a guy's face who was trying to get into my house to get to my sister. I don't know why, but I wasn't shaking until he left, then I was a human vibrator. I'll never forget the feeling I had when I had the gun two feet from the guy's face through the screen door. It was the worst feeling I ever had, but I never saw him again.

I haven't yet since I'm a young buc, but I'm planning on it. When I turn 18, I want to have a commemerative ceremony with me getting a brand new dessert eagle, and setting out to hunt down and buck shots at Don and Mike. It's brining a tear to my eye even at the thought of it.

Gun ownership is a serious matter, and playing with guns is never acceptable.
I was a kid and I aimed an empty .44 Mag at my cousin..my Uncle almost killed me. NEVER fuck with guns.

I was 24 years old, in the police academy. Believe it or not, I never held a gun (other than a bbgun) in my hand b4 then. Luckily, I was a natural, and have since honed my skills to near perfection.

I love guns. For some reason when ever I'm around one there is always that asshole who has to point the gun at someone. You don't do that unless your gonna shoot somebody that's like rule #1. so you really want to beat that moron to death. Playboy has a Beretta shotgun in the december issue that I'm gonna buy it's hot and it's only 2 grand. Oh yeah Summer camp 22. shot anything we could catch and targets.

I've never been comfortable with guns because when I was young, a friend (ex-friend) waved a loaded .22 in my face as a joke. a week later the dumbass put a hole through his thigh with it.

I do remember when I held my friend Paul's 9mm, I was surprised at the weight of it. I guess I was expecting more cap-gunesque. oddly enough, he had pointed the gun at me too, but it was unloaded, and he's a corrections officer. I guess everyone, even the trained, likes to play around a little with guns.

Upstate NY. My high school had riflery as a gym offering. We used these old 22s and I was the only girl to earn an expert medal. When we were first dating, my husband took me to Blue Mountain in Peekskill and taught me how to shoot a 12 gauge. My first time practically the whole range stopped shooting- I'm only 5 feet tall and I think they expected me to fall on my ass.Lesson here- Listen to your moms kids, she could be packing heat!

I've fired whatever my ex used to keep in his basement.

But, since he is so volatile, I never really felt safe around the guns he had. . . and he had many. . . a .45, one that wasn't exactly a semi-automatic, but that you pumped first and it had a gas canister (don't remember the caliber), miniature ones that really fired, the exact same gun as in 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' (we had to sit there and watch WHILE HE HELD THE GUN ON HIS LAP!!!), Dirty Harry's gun, one he planned to use on his ex-fiancee's half-brother. . .and that was just in the basement.

In his room, he had a live grenade.

And in his car he's got something else, but I forget what.

Anyway, guns frighten me because of him.

But, I can take the recoil on a .45

Actually, I've never fired a gun in my life, and I don't plan on it. I used to be suicidal and semi-homicidal, so maybe I should just leave dangerous weapons alone. :)

My Dad is a former Marine, and was a beat cop when I
was a little girl. So I grew up around guns, and was
taught to respect them from a very early age.

When I was 6 years old he started training me on
safety. Things like "There is no such thing as an
unloaded gun. Even if the person checks to make sure
it's unloaded before they hand it to you, you check
again as soon as it's in your hands." And "Never point
a gun at anything you don't intent to kill."

After a year of safety training, he let me start practicing
with an air pistol in the garage. When I was 8 I got my
first BB gun. By the time I was 10 I was a
Sharpshooter First Class on a .22.

When I was 14 and home alone with a friend, some
guys who lived down the street started messing with
us, jumped over my back fence and started threatening
us in a sexual manner. I calmly went inside the house,
took all the bullets out of my Mom's .357, and went
back outside with it and told them to get the fuck back
over the fence and leave us alone. I've never seen two
boys run and jump so fast.

I have a concealed weapon permit, though I don't
usually carry. But I am one little chick you don't want to
fuck with.

My first time was at age 9, a .22, which was ok. For years it was just target shooting occasionally.
In high school I took an NRA course on hunter safety and since I got a 'b' or better, with the yellow patch they'd give you, I could shoot at a lot of the ranges on the Marine base where I lived. My best friend's dad was a sniper and on the Marine Corps marksmanship team and we got to shoot some cool guns.
At age 14, that was coool.

Dammit! I meant to also say that I don't like being around a lot of my friends when they bring out their firearms because they don't know how to handle them.
The bastards will pick up a pistol and damned if their finger doesn't go right on the trigger.
"Oh it's not loaded" is often heard before someone gets accidently shot.
They'll point the damned thing where they don't intend to shoot.
Or they'll hand it to me without ejecting the magazine and opening the breach......

the first time i shot a gun, i was at my cousins house in virgina... and my father and my cousin were kinda snickering. it was a 12 gauge shot gun... they told me to hold it straight up in the air and keep it off my shoulder about 1/2 an inch... i basically barely want it to touch.

next thing i know, i was on the ground and had a HUGE bruise on my shoulder... they thought it was the funniest thing in the world. i did not

I went down to Prince George's Trap and Skeet when I was about 9 and I shot a .410 shotgun. After that, I began to shoot a ton of guns. Since I'm a young guy all the people at the shooting ranges want me to shoot their anti-aircraft guns. My favorite gun to shoot is my dad's Hi-Standard olympic grade handgun. In a year and a half when I turn 21 I want to buy a Kimber Model 1911. Alright

I went with my family a few times to watch them shoot, when I was very little. We'd go to some property owned by C&P Telephone Co. (my dad was the boss, so it was ok). When I was around 12 he let me shoot. I used my brother's 22 cal. semi-auto rifle. I fired 3 quick rounds from about 25 yards at a beer can. The first shot nicked the rim at the top of the can. I got lucky on the next two rounds. Even though I pulled up after the first shot, it caused the can to flip up... allowing the next two rounds to nail the back of the can dead center.
