The 10 cent ones flew until the heavy weight on the nose cracked the thing in half after hitting the ground. The 50 cent version with an 18" wing span, propeller, rubber band, and plastic wheels that barely turned never got off the ground. Then there was the ultimate in "Este-esque" model building...2000 match sticks and a couple of tubes of airplane glue.

All worthless fun unless of course......there was some lighter fluid handy.

Loved those things. You could buy them for a quarter. I used to wind up the propellers and throw the plane at people.

What a little stinker I wuz.

I loved the ones with the rubber band props.
They were cheap, and you always got them in your "loot bag" at Birthday parties.

I remember my bro upgraded to a styrofoam plane with gas engine. He spent 300 bucks on this thing and crashed it after a month...
just think of all the beers he could have bought....ugh...I think I am gonna cry.
