I know for a fact we have a few board members who are actively involved in the martial arts. I myself have had an on-again, off-again involvement for over 20 years.

I've stuidied Okinawan Goju-Ryu, Northern Shaolin Kung-Fu, Hung-Ga, and Tai Chi to name a few.

I'm looking to get involved again, so let me hear what you like best about your particular style.

Sell it!

I've studied tae kwon do, aikido, western classic (medieval) sword, and most recently i've been studying tai chi chu'an, which i certainly like the best.

i consider myself a very spiritual person, and certainly very intuitive, and tai chi is an art that focuses on utilizing those aspects of a person. It's not so much fighting with your body, its fighting with your spirit

ps: Lantern, soo bakh do is excellent!! my ex girlfriend used to take it, and her ass was rock hard :)

I hate tae qwon do. I'm getting into filipino martial arts because it has a real fluidity to it. I like to wear my dashiki when I practice because it helps me to get in touch with my roots.

magical!

For me: boxer, wrestler and Purple Belt, Karate.
As for my favorite style, I love a good barroom brawl, it has been a while.
I also did "Indian Leg Wrestling" in the Boy Scouts. Nude.

I'm not very fond of it either, it's too aggressive and there's no real stragedy other than over power the other guy with speed and strength (of course i only took it for a year or so) on the other hand, i have very strong legs, and i am very flexible, so the kicks come in handy.

*** btw: i haven't been in a real fight since i was 18, only sparring.

I follow the 'egg foo young' from the Chow Mein clan. It involves concentration and 'duc sauce' style. For kicks I like to go on top of General T'sao Mountain and practice my Man Walks with Dog style.

Actually, if one decides to start on some sort of martial arts regiment, what is a good one for a beginner to learn? Something simple which provides basics.

I am doing Shaolin style of Kung Fu GVAC. I think I told you that at the BANOF2, but then again I think I told one of the bartenders that I was a popes aide...

Gvac, I know we once spoke about it, but I take Shaolin Kung-Fu with the same Sifu you did. Shaolin is the basis for all other forms of martial arts and is a "soft" style, which is better for your chi. The school also now teaches Tai Chi, Bog Wa and has regular seminars in other styles with visiting Masters (including one of Bruce Lee's teachers)
