In honor of the contest the guys are doing I thought I would throw this one out there for all the X-Philes. I did not want to make it too easy so I added the why? I like to do that. :P
Mine is an episode called Jose Chung's From Outer Space It is the only one I actually taped and keep. I love it because it tells the story from several different points of view and you have to watch it a few times before you even think you know what "really" happened.
Let me hear you sound off on your favorite.
"Pug felt a deep sense of rightness about everything.
He was an apprentice, even if Kulgan seemed
completely unsure of what to do with him.
He was well fed, and on his way to being slightly intoxicated-
which contributed to his sense of well-being. And most of all he
was among friends. There can't be more to life than this, he thought."

My favorite episode would have to be a tie between the origin of the lone gunmen and the one with the vampires. Mulder thinks the pizza delivery boy is a vampire but when he stakes him the kid is wearing dentures. But of course, Mulder is right, the body leaves the morgue and his trailer park disappears.

I apologize because I can't pick just one. I've narrowed it to 4...I hope that's ok. There are 2 episodes in which people get to to "become" Mulder. One deals with a paper pusher at Area 51 (played by Michael McKeon) who paranormally switches bodies with Mulder during an "electrical storm". The other is about a shapeshifter named Eddie Van Blundth who locks Mulder in a basement and assumes his shape, and identity. I enjoy the Xfiles the most when theyre not taking themselves too seriously. These 2 episodes are full of self-depracating humor, and really showcase the acting skills of David Duchovny, playing different personalities who just happen to be in his body. Another great main character study episode is the Christmas Eve haunted house episode with Lily Tomlin and Ed Asner as the ghosts, who psycho-analyze Mulder and Scully, getting inside their heads in order to get them to kill eachother. Finally, a more serious episode, I guess, is "Serulean Blue" where a man's power of suggestion is so strong, he only needs to pin a note on his sleeve that says "Doctor" to make u believe he's your doctor, or repeat a soothing phrase in your ear to make u think that the traffic is clear in all directions...even though theres a Mack truck coming right for you! God, I'm gonna miss this show.

I kinda agree with you Chris about the ones that do not take themselves too seriously. Those are fun but I prefer the ones where they get really bizarre and force you to pay attention. I am going to miss the show too but not this past season. I have really lost interest since Mulder left even though Annabeth Gish is yummy.

I love the one about the vampires. WHen both scully and moldy tell their story from their own point of view. Remember the deputy ? ha! scully remembered him as suave and handsome and moldy being a lil jealous gave him huge chicklet teeth. ha!
well i think i love that episode bc it had 'that dynamic' btwn fox and dana. ok. i also..loved(really loved) the christmas episode. well the one with the haunted house. the house was haunted by a married couple. and well i just loved that molder wanted to spend christmas with scully. i felt so bad that he had no family to spend christmas with. he needed scully.
ok...
and really...
a long long time ago. there was an episode that had money that was poisoned and a movie theater that had a poison gas or was it a virus infused in the vents.
my details are sketchy bc i only saw it the one time.
but i thought wow...that could really happen. a really well done episode...
hmmm
i LOVE the one with millinium (sp...) group. i just needed that closeure. i loved that carter show too. especially the first season. it seemed like a natural meshing of the two.
oh yeah...
how about freaks under the stairs?
or anytime scully says...
there must be a scientific explanation for this!
haha
well
i guess i just love this show.
i really dont mind the new people either. and even tho i sing for david duchovny ..why wont he love me??... well i cant forgive him.
I came here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I am all out of bubblegum.

"Aggie you know what i want from your sexy ass"
I dunno if anyone even remembers this episode, but it was about a psychotic plastic surgeon who was killing his patients through their treatments like burning their faces during chemical peels, etc.
I can't remember why but someone ended up puking up straight pins and no one knows how they ingested them.
The episode was SOOOOOO creepy and said "to be continued" and it never was, boo! That made me stop watching the xfiles.
I dream of David Duchovny.
