Willie O'Ree broke the color barrier in the NHL so he's got to rank up there on that achievement alone. There's Anson Carter and Mike Grier on the Oilers, Peter Worrell on the Panthers, Fred Brathwaite and Jamal Mayers on the Blues, Kevin Weekes on the Hurricanes and Donald Brashear on the Flyers. Devils fans probably remember Claude Vilgrain. None of these guys are great when compared to the achievements of Wayne Gretzky, Maurice Richard, Jacques Plante, Ken Dryden, etc. but among black players, some of these guys have got to rank up there.

I forgot Georges Laraque plays for the Oilers too. There was a black guy on the Sharks 10 years ago but I can't remember his name.

I remember that guy too. I don't know his name but I think he was on another team and went to San Jose maybe a year after the team joined the NHL

He's the NHL leading scorer for the 2001-02 season. He's on the Flames.

Kevin Weekes has held his won just fine and has been pretty good for Carolina. But this could just be a hot streak he's on. Does anyone remember his tenure at Tampa Bay?
