View Full Version : What was your first car?

I know people have stories about their first car. (I don't, mine was a boring) But my friend in high school had this old woody station wagon that was great! It had a rack on top and someome would drive while we held on to the top and they tried to get us to fall off (not hard though, no one ever got hurt)

So i was wondering what people's first car's were and any special memories in them?

Unfortunately, a few days before I got my license, my Dad got rid of what would have been my first car -- a 1966 Cadillac Coupe de Ville!

Instead I got a 1980 Buick Skylark.

A Cutlass Ciera, Like an 85'. Goddamn it that car was a piece of shit. The morning of my road test it totally died, and I had to use a sardine can Honda CRX (my brothers at the time) with no power steering. I passed anyway and my Dad got it running again so it could die 1,000 more times before I got my next peice of shit car....

88 chevy spectrum, it was grey, and had a pop up sunroof...well it was a clunker when i went to the machine car wash and those vacums hit the car and ran up the roof it hit the sunroof and sucked it out of the car, when i turned the engine off it still ran and if i had no key in it and it was off and it still ran i could put it in drive and still go till i stopped.
it was fun car for the three weeks i had it cause then i went under a pathfinder in it and ran over a family of geese, and that is when the car went bye bye, you should see the pictures of it after the accident

My parents sold me their old '76 Plymouth Volare for $300. I don't think they cared about the money so much but more that it was an opportunity to give me a lesson in fiscal responsibility. No special memories. It was reliable and it got me where I wanted to go.

i feel like this is the 5th time i have talked about this on here but anyways i had a 1987 Dodge Reliant K, tha all mighty K-car, i think everyone should own one of these monstrasities once in their lives, it should be a law. it's helps you appreciate good cars with working parts and engines that don't leak constantly. i drove that car for 3 years with pride (with is covered in bumper stickers) before she died, she now resides in my back yard, collecting dirt, her name was kelly (like kelly bundy from married with children, cause, like her, my car was a little slow)

My first was a 1964 Pontiac LeMans-lasted about a month. After one of many neutral drops smoke came out from under the dash, the end. Second car was even better-a Ford Pinto. Yes it too went on fire. What made that better was the 50 packs or so of firecrackers in the glove compartment that scared the s**t out of the firemen when they went off.

Blue 1984 Chevy Cavalier that I bought from my aunt for $400. The first year I drove it, I put about 40,000 miles on it. I ended up selling it to my boyfriend for $200, only to have it towed from the driveway of his parents' house a month later when he dumped me, skipped town, and only made $15 in payments on it. <P>

1963 puke green, Mercury Montego. It got about as much gas milage as a tank and was just slightly smaller.

Pieces fell off the car routinely. Once the steering wheel came off in my hands. I didn't care. I was 18 and it was a gift from an elderly uncle who couldn't drive anymore.

After 4 years, I gave the car to charity and bought a new Mazda 323.

Well the first car that I drove was an 87 Suzuki Samurai. I almost died in that bloody car cause of an accident, but luckily for all I didnt. My first car that I actually bought was a 1998 Saturn SL Sedan. It had 6 miles on it when I picked it up...God I loved that car took care of it and what not. Did some personal modifications to it to make it better including work under the hood, stereo, etc...lost it to an accident as well.Fortunatly this car kept me in one piece and walked away with no injury...

My first car here in the U.S. was a 1981 Mergury Grand Marquis (Borouham Edition or something like that...) and I loved that thing.

I bought it from an old lady for $800, and it was beautiful, power EVERYTHING!!!, it was a dream to drive and fast enough.

Me and my friends used to call it the "aircraft carrier" because it was almost as big as one.

Ah, the times I had in that car...

Peace & Hugs,

Bought it in 1987, had it for about a year. Couldn't afford to repair the fucker, and every mechanic saw this thing and charged you double. But it was a hell of a car. Raced a buddy with an I-Roc on the Jones Beach Expwy and got it up to 130MPH. Handled great, I could take a hard right hand turn going 35 and not even hit the brakes. Great car. 1962 VW Bug. I walked by it everyday on my way home from middle school and it just sat rusting in an alley way, so one day I built up the courage to knock on the owners front door and ask him what he had planned for the beauty in the alley. He was doing some remodeling on his house and told me that if I dug him a trench from his house to his garage to lay electrical conduit in I could have it, and a matching one he kept in the garage. I called my best friend at the time and we each ended up with sweet green bugs and we were only 12. I saved up, bought a new battery, changed the oil and she fired right up. I miss that little pimp mobile.

Astrovan, baby! My father was a mechanic and spent so much time repairing other peoples' cars that he never bothered with his own... then he gave it to me, the first time driver. Many things were broken, like the speedometer, the driver's side automatic window (very fun at tolls... I had to smoosh my hands against it and drag it down, then clap my hands on either side to pull it back up), the cloth on the ceiling was coming down and was stuck back up with multi-colored pins, it smelled funky, it made creepy noises... but that didn't stop my friends from piling in!

I later traded it with a friend for a 1968 Shelby GT500KR which I still have today. It is in pieces while I restore it. Hoping to have it done by July so I can begin my second childhood before the summer's end.

No, that's not mine...I don't have a photo, but that one is similar. Mine was solid blue (and rust). It was actually in pretty good shape when I got it, only had about 78,000 miles on it, but I beat the hell out of that truck

It went to every tailgate and every barbecue I went to in my late-teens.

Plus that thing was a magnet for people hitting it. I got hit like four times while driving it.

Then it kept getting more and more expensive to replace some of the older parts since they were wearing out.

It's long gone now...it was pretty much done, so I think I donated it to Goodwill...they said they wanted it.
