Giving Blood

The Blood Bank called me at work to tell me they have a "blood crisis," so I go down to the blood center to donate. Every time I give blood, the nurses ask me if I'm ok, cos I get ghastly pale. Maybe I shouldn't think of the needle pushing around my veins and such. They made me sit around for an hour and watch some John Travolta movie where he's supposed to be an angel. Oh well, I got free cookies and orange juice. Anyone else have blood donation stories? I like giving blood, but it gives me the heebie-jeebies to think of my blood pouring out into some plastic sack.

while in high school I was working in a supermarket in secaucus new jersey, i donated blood at the fire house there..then two days later they were doign a blood drive at school and i was like oh well then irealized it was during english class...and i forgot i had a test so i donated again so in a 2 day time frame i donated 2 pints of blood...let me say this...never again god did i get so sick

I used to give blood fairly regularly. The the blood bank around here became a bunch of vampires. They would call me every three weeks. I was like "I JUST GAVE!!!"

I have whats technically called "the good juice", thats right O-neg. The type of blod that everybody can receive, but I can only receive O-neg...

On Sept. 11th I called my local red cross chapter and asked if I could go down there and donate, they told me they'd call me if/when they needed me.

Sadly enough, the call never called me back...

I'm a card carrying red cross donnor since 93. I used to give blood in college every time they came by (about once a month or so) and I remember this sweet old lady that was with the red cross and everytime they were in campus she would wave me in as I was walking towards the red cross blood drive booth.

I tried to give blood, but there's some sort of problem with my blood. I might disclose more at carolines at 2:00 pm Sunday in between my jokes.

I usually forget to eat or I forgot that I was going to donate and took medicine the day before so I really don't donate much anymore.

The few times that I did donate, the technician had trouble finding the vein. So, after a few pokes in the arm with the needle, I wound up laying around until someone more experienced was available to draw the blood.

When I was in high school, I had to go to Fort Monmouth to take a physical for a Navy ROTC scholarship. The physical included a blood test and the guy taking the blood didn't know what he was doing. My whole left forearm was all kinds of shades of black, blue purple and yellow for I don't know how long. After all that, I didn't get the scholarship anyway.

You gotta love those military medics that don't know what the hell theyre doing. I was in the army for 7 years and I swear i musta had blood drawn atleast 30 times and hardly ever was it done by someone experienced. Nothing compares to the repeating ingrown toenail the got pulled out 2 times by someone that had never done it before. If you've ever had this done, you know it's not fun. Stupid bitch used the wrong size needle when she was trying to numb my toe and it bent to a 90 degree angle when she was trying to push it threw the area where the toe and foot connect. I never wanted to punch a chick in the mouth until that happened

They recently had a blood drive at my job and I didn't think it was funny that the people who came for the blood were dressed as vampires. They didnt even talk. They just stood there staring at me.
