i'm still pissed over SW:TPM
even if the next two are great,
that piece of crap will always mar
the trilogy.
to be honest, i'm not that
psyched about this one, i just
want to know if Walkin is in it.

No he is not in it...that trailer was a fan based trailer only, and it also included Gabriel Byrne whom Lucas did pursue for his two movies but failed to get...He had to settle for Jimmy Smits instead...
If you watch the Episode 1 DVD with the commentary Lucas tells why he made the first one a bit "goofy". To offset the storylines that you are going to see for the next two movies. He wanted to show how Anakin goes from the good natured child we see in Episode 1 through his jedi training days, until his collapse to the dark side where he becomes Darth Vader. You can only have faith in the force for the next two...personally I love all the Star Wars movies...

personally I love all the Star Wars movies
I second that. after hearing everyone bash episode 1 the last couple of years, i watched it again last month and still think it's a good movie. i love the pod racer sound effects.

I actually have some faith that people will look back at episode I, and it will make so much more sense when all six movies are taken as a whole. I liked episode I, and recommend to everyone the Terry Brooks novelization, because Jar Jar's signifigance in the storyline is much more clear in that telling of the story.....

The only reason SW:TPM left me disappointed was the 5 year old kid sitting near me who could not stop asking his mother questions throughout the fucking movie. And of course, she didn't bother to tell him to keep quiet.
Anyway, my feeling at the end of SW:TPM was "OK, it's Lucas' first film in years, he's trying to get used to new technology, whatever he does will be criticized for something or other, and this is the first of three films -- it's only laying the groundwork." I think 2 will be much better.

I really didn't like The Phantom Menace, and personally, based on that movie and what he did with the special editions I think Lucas has lost it. At the very least, he needs less "yes men" around him, someone to rein him in sometimes, like he did in the earlier movies.
One of my friends says that despite all the bashing I do of episode one, I'll come crawling back to see part two. And I definitely will see it, but my expectations will be pretty low. Maybe then I'll be pleasantly surprised.
