okay. heres my beef with this list. the simpsons is the longest running sitcom in the history of cable. But The Sopranos (i show i absolutely love dont get me wrong) has only been out for three seasons and it ranks in the top 5. In the immortal words of homer simpson "SWEET MERCIFUL CRAP" what the hell is going on here.

Holy Crap - that was exactly my reaction!! I like the sopranos also - but its a simple show about some mobsters that isnt unlike many other dramas over the years. To put it at number 5 over classics like mary tyler moore or even Johnnie carson..PULESE!!
I guess we can argue placement all day long - but i think the good ones are all represented here. I quention the inclusion of THIRTYSOMTHING and Bewitched..where is the Practice or Odd Couple,
wait, no osbournes?! thats crazy! and sopranos should have been higher! do these people even watch tv?!
sorry bout that, i'm a little retarded today. stupid me...

All in the Family is waaaaay too high on the list. I hated that show. The only thing good about it was the theme song.

I think SNL should have been a little hihger, and ive never even heard of the Honeymooners. the Sopranos havent been on long enough to be in the top 5, 60 minutes shouldnt even count as a tv show, the simpsons should have been in the top 5, Cheers should definetly have made the top 10, and Friends should have at least made the top 15. Oprah Winfrey shouldnt even have been on the list.

of the Honeymooners
You've never heard of "The
Honeymooners"??? And you feel
that TV Guide didn't place the
shows accurately? If you've
never heard of a television classic
like "The Honeymooners" that
has been running in syndication
for about 40 years, if not more,
then how do you have any
opinion regarding the placement
of the shows???

I thought it was "Married With Children"? Or did "The Simpsons" just pass that mark?

Family Guy should have been on the list - maybe towards the end because of a short run and ratings(which I blame Fox for), but come on! The baby wanted to kill his mother! They tore into the hypocrisy of religion on every show! The family dog was an intellectual alchoholic who became a porno director! Come On!

I used to be a fat kid, and man, the name just stuck.

I have a few issues with the list as well, but I have to give them credit for ranking Seinfeld #1. I don't think there's an episode that didn't have me pissing my pants the first time I saw it. Every episode was witty, and to tie in 3 or 4 seemingly separate stories at the end of every half hour was comic genius. I've actually heard people say "I don't get what's so funny about that show". I just don't get that.

Who's the crack addict who came up with this list. The Honeymooners at #3? and where's THE MILTON BERLE SHOW (a.k.a. Texaco Star Theater).

Well I agree with some, don't agree with others. As some have said it's good to see shows like Buffy and Peaks on it but Seinfeld is not the number one best show of all time, it's not even the best sitcom of the 90s (that honor goes to NewsRadio). And The Mertz and Arnezes is in no way, shape or form, even half as great as the Kramdens and Nortons. And Twilight Zone should be in the top 10 because even now it's just still so damned cool (the Anthony "think only happy thoughts" episode was on last night).
Sopranos has no right being in the top 5 after just 3 seasons, two of which left us very disappointed.
Shows they left off: South Park, The Daily Show (if news shows count, this definitely does- any show that calls Big Bird a "giant retarded canary" automatically smells greatness), Mystery Science Theater 3000, NewsRadio, Oz (better than Sopranos), The Prisoner (it's on PBS midnights Sunday and if you haven't seen it, WATCH THE FUCKING THING), Kids in the Hall, Conan O'Brien, and the ultimate troupe comedy show- Monty Python's Flying Circus.
