(this is in today's Newsday)

"The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening yesterday distanced himself from comments he made to a British newspaper saying the show was ending. In a statement, he said, "Recent headlines have implied I'm predicting the imminent death of "The Simpsons.' Nothing could be further from the truth. I want to assure you all new episodes will be made for years to come, and "The Simpsons' will be having new adventures long after I am in my grave, which is kind of a creepy feeling."

I wish the show would die. It's my favorite show of all time but I think the past couple of seasons have sucked.

As compared to what? Other Simpsons episodes? Yes, they're not as great as, say, Season 3, but look what's on TV today...AWFUL.

I pretty much watch the Simpsons, South Park, Mohr Sports, wrestling and that's about it. The X-Files have sucked without Mulder (which is why I'll watch the last episodes, plus I'm curious how it'll end up). There's just nothing worth watching on anymore.

The moral to the story: The Simpsons are like sex, even if it's bad, it's still pretty good.

WWFallon, I knew I wasn't the only one who felt this way. The past few seasons have only had a few gems, but other than that it's crap.

I'd much rather watch a syndicated episode than a new one.
