FILMING ON DAREDEVIL UNDERWAY

From the studio that brought you the smash hit X-Men comes a new comic-book action hero from the Marvel canon. Principal photography is underway in Los Angeles on DAREDEVIL, starring Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, Colin Farrell and Michael Clarke Duncan.

Affleck (Good Will Hunting, Sum of All Fears) stars as the Man Without Fear - attorney Matt Murdock by day, and masked vigilante Daredevil by night. Daredevil is a hero with a twist: he's blind, but his other senses function with superhuman sharpness. The legendary Stan Lee created DAREDEVIL for Marvel Comics in 1964.

Murdock is joined by sidekick Franklin "Foggy" Nelson. Jon Favreau plays the superhero's lifelong pal and law partner. Audiences know the versatile actor/producer/director from Swingers, Very Bad Things and Deep Impact. Murdock's love interest is martial arts femme fatale Elektra Natchios. Elektra is brought to life by Jennifer Garner, who recently netted a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her starring role on ABC's Alias.

Michael Clarke Duncan (Planet of the Apes, The Green Mile) plays the underworld figure Wilson Fisk, and Dublin native Colin Farrell, soon to be seen in theaters in Minority Report with Tom Cruise, is Bullseye, a psychotic assassin with perfect aim.

David Keith (Behind Enemy Lines, Men of Honor), Joe Pantoliano (The Matrix, Memento) and newcomer Scott Terra round out the cast.

Overseeing the action is writer and director Mark Steven Johnson (Simon Birch, Grumpy Old Men). He's joined by production designer Barry Chusid (Blade), three-time Oscar-winning costume designer James Acheson (Spider-Man), visual effects supervisor Rich Thorne (Behind Enemy Lines) and legendary action director Cheung-Yan Yuen (Charlie's Angels, Iron Monkey).

DAREDEVIL is scheduled for theatrical release in January 2003.

We've all seen Kingpin/Wilson Fisk as this huge white guy and now his part will be played by Michael Clarke Duncan who's not fat or white. Ben Affleck as DD? So far the only thing that sounds good is the choice for Elektra. Jennifer Garner! She's hot!

what? no stiltman?

i think duncan is a great idea for kingpin. he's a proven actor with size, menace, and name recognition.

but why the hell isn't kevin smith doing this if affleck is involved?

I think the cast sounds good, as long as Affleck has red hair for the role. I can't wait for this movie, I have been a fan of DD since I was a little kid.

<p>Kevin has a cameo in the film. Also, Kevin isn't on this because he didn't write it. He has mentioned on several ocassions that he only wants to direct stuff he writes. He also has said that he knows he can't do this movie justice because he can't do action. The few times he has tried they've all been cut of of his films. Originally the boardroom scene in Dogma was supposed to end in a big brawl with Matt Damon killing everyone, and that's why all the guys in the scene are big burly guys, they're all stuntmen. When it came time to shoot it, he realised he couldn't direct a fight scene like that, and decided for everything to happen off camera. <p>OK I think i got a little OT on that one. Uhm, yeah I can't wait for DD. The shots I've seen so far of it have been cool. <P>

I'm so divided about this. On the one hand, I've heard the script is good and I really want to see a Daredevil movie.

On the other hand, I hate that faggot Ben Affleck.
