I never grew up listening to Frank Zappa, but my freind did, and really got me into listening to Joes Garage. I was playing the cd at work and the kid I was working with was no older than 17 starting bitching about Zappa! Asking me if what I was playing is country music!!! WHAT THE F! Someone out there must like Zappa........

I'd have to agree that's my favorite album as well.

Apostrophe was my first. The Joe's Garage trilogy and Sheik Yerbouti are faves.

like "some" of his stuff, pretty creative, couldn't get into the xylophone stuff...

Frank actually produced one of the Grand Funk albums and played lead guitar on one of the songs, he was pretty good...

Joe's Garage is the only one I ever OWNED (on 8 track no less--tell THAT to your 17 year old co-worker! lol); it was the 1st "theme album" that I ever heard. Loved it! On a more personal note, charming Mary from Conoga Park may just have given me my 1st chubby. She sounded so hot! Can anyone tell me the name of the "space themed" Zappa album? Something about fucking a robot/vacuum cleaner or something. lol. I'd like to find that and give it another listen. Zappa never took himself too seriously (just look at his kids names!). Maybe now that the boy band craze is over, someone like him can come in and remind us what talent is.

First album of Zappa's I heard was "We're Only In It For The Money", but 'Hot Rat's" and Apostrophe are classics that never got the radio time they deserved. Seeing his Halloween show's at the Palladium was an event that I wish I could do again. Why don't they play him on the classic rock stations instead of the same old crap day in and day out.
