Wrestling Classics.com is reporting the death of six
time NWA World Heavyweight Champion Lou Thesz.
No details were reported. Thesz had been
recovering from triple bypass surgery and an aoertic
valve replacement.
Thesz was 85, and is survived by his wife

Not old enough to remember him in his heyday. But I do remember him refing a match btw Piper & Snuka during the height of their fued. He was somehwere in his late 60's and still looked like he could kick butt. RIP Mr. Thesz

The disgusting thing is that the WWF hasn't even mentioned Thesz's passing yet.
I know he'd been retired for years, but Thesz did an unbelievable amount for the business....hell, as much as Vince likes to pat himself on the back, if it wasn't for Lou Thesz in particular, the WWF would not be the juggernaut that it is today. Through his actions, Thesz paved the way for mainstream pro wrestling.
I was reading Scott Keith yesterday, and in his comments on RAW, he brough up a good point - no one was exactly expecting a 10 bell salute, but at one point Austin used a Thesz press....and JR said nothing. It wouldn't have killed him to take 2 seconds to acknowledge Lou's passing.
Really, Heyman was right - Vince has no fucking sense of tradition or respect for those who came before him.
