I have recently sent a resume out the juvenile justice commission here in jersey. i mailed it out on the 12th and i gave them a little more than a week before i called to see if they recieved the resume. They said they had not, so then i was forced to fax it over to them and did not have a chance to call them. so the next day after i faxed it i called to see if they had recieved it.. and the woman who i addressed to was not at her desk and i left a voicemail. Now here is the question what do say when i call and talk to them on monday besides did you get my fax. just wondering if anyone could give me some suggestion on this.. thanks a lot....

I would explain it the way you just described it: you sent in a "hard copy" of your resume and then a fax copy and you want to be sure they received one or both of them. The point of contact was unavailable when you called and you are simply following up.

Good luck!

There is nothing wrong with follow up calls and or faxes.....from personal experience, i faxed mine, then sent an origional, because i had a graphic designer make mine, so i wanted them to see the origional.....if after a week, you hear nothing, send another with a KIND note saying that you were "just making sure that a clear copie of your res. was received and that a confirmation call would be kindly appreciated and thanked for in advance...." Its one of those things that people assume you know how to do, and i didnt, so fresh outta college in 99, i learned on my own what to do......trial and error....hope this helpsE-mail Address Here

Just give them one more call...for simple reason 1) you are worried about it being received 2) it should say to these people that you are really interested in this position, but dont have to call all the time. Just at key times throughout the day...only call once a day though if you can, unless you are directed to do so at a specific time to talk that specific person
