Vampires are inherently alluring, it's their whole deal. I mean, really, would you let a guy drain you of all lifeblood if he didn't wine and dine you first?
We guys didn't luck out, though, as it seems female vampires are the more violent. They're always tearing us limb from limb and other fun things. They do usually have heaving bosoms, though, so I guess it evens out.
Perhaps I should use this to my advantage.
I VANT TO SUCK YOUR BLOOD! BLEEEEHHHH!
Am I a sexy bitch now?

POOTERTOOT - Women seemed to have gotten the lion's share of supernatural sexy creatures. The vampire's sexuality of course is directed towards women; a fable told in Victorian England to allow repressed women to feel some stirrings of sexual desire. After all, they were powerless to resist the wiles of Count Dracula, Chockula and other vampires.
Women also were allowed to fantasize to a small extent about demons in the form of an incubus; a demon that had sex with them while they are sleeping. (Since they were sleeping their virtue was preserved). However, if their fantasy got too much out of control they were said to be sleeping with the devil and burned alive at the stake.
To my recollection, guys have only one cool supernatural beings to get off to, namely The Succubus; A demon assuming female form to have sexual intercourse with men in their sleep. And part of the reason for the term "succubus" is the type of sex she enjoyed. The guy I imagine just lay there and begged the foul demon to stop sucking - "You foul demon, stop. Well, in another 2-3 minutes, really you should stop."
When the term "succubus" was first coined, it was pretty much universally believed that sperm was the source of masculinity and a man's strength. Hence the demon drained a man of his virility and even life by sucking the very essence out of him. But what a way to go!
I bet Satanism started by guys willing to do ANYTHING to get 2-3 succubus's at once. But that's just conjecture.

You forgot one of the best, "Count Duckula"...In the heart of transylvania, in the vampire hall of fame, yeah...you'll never find one zanier than DUCKULA.
Anna, it's due largely in part to the romanticization of the concept of a serial killer. All raw emotion and often sexual nature of the crimes, we've come to glorify them as intelligent, cunning men and women who dare to do what we cannot. They're the closest we have to the supervillains of comic books, they're in a state of reckless abandon we wish we could bring outself to. We see all their "positive" qualities with little thought of the devastation they leave behind, and, for the most part, glorify even the killings. We deify the killer while looking upon the victim as just a lost object, not a human. If we stopped to think about the lives they destroy, the orphaned children, the crying mothers, fathers, wives, husbands, who have lost something of unquestionable value that can never be replaced, the serial killer loses his charm.
I'm completely uninformed on this subject, with the exception of having read about it extensively. I'm sure Hordeking'll have a better answer than I, but I think mine is satisfactory...
