View Full Version : thoughts on MTV ICON of Areosmith
Ok I dont think Train should be up there on stage covering Dream on, the guys voice SUCKS! On the other hand everything else in that band sounded really really good. Secondly As much as I like Papa Roach they shouldnt be coving Sweet Emotion. The lead singer sounds like shit singing, he should stick to what he does best , rapping in his songs! Next Daid Spade, NOT FUNNY! I herd like 3 jokes he made and all I herd was circkets from the crowd. Im shocked though cause Spade is usually pretty funny. Metalica Comes aon stage and NOBODY BOOS? What the Fuck? Id be flipping Larz the finger. Actually no now that I think about it I wouldnt. I be thanking LArz for shutting down napster and opening even more and better free mp3 sites! Now KID ROCK FUCKING KICKED ASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ill admit I love the big beautiful black chick rocking on the drums! JA Rule and Sum 41, covering Walk this way W/ RUn DMC, Great fucking job, As much as I hate Ja rules voice I think it sounded awsome with everything put toegether. Shakira. who is this chick and how come she isnt in my bed right now? I could defanlty run a batch to her! But a great job covering Dude looks like a lady.Pinnk also did an awsome job of Janies got a gun, and when Areosmith took the stage they rocked the house of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

<marquee>There's a place in the world for the angry young man With his working class ties and his radical plansHe refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,He's always at home with his back to the wall. And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-And he likes to be knowns as the angry young man. </marquee>
I'm sorry if I offend fans but Aerosmith is an "icon"?
IMO, they are so overrated. They are just Zeppelin/Stones clones. I don't see how they revolutionized music.

aerosmith has been to most people..an icon for years. i have my doubt about some of the groups/singers that they are going to have cover the aerosmith songs, but atleast they are finally getting the respect that they deserve.

They are absolutely an ICON. I am not even a big Aerosmith fan but they have made some pretty amazing achievments.
These guys have rocked for over 20 years, producing multiple #1 hits with every album.
And the fact that they can still produce some of the best music out there TODAY, is a testament to how great they are.

There is nothing more exhilerating than pointing out the shortcomings of others, is there?

Well, they've actually been around for almost 30 years (first album 1973), but their chart record has been very up and down. During the mid-Seventies, they were one of the biggest rock groups around, until drug abuse slowed them down. None of their albums from the late Seventies or early Eighties were really any good. They had their famous comeback in the second half of the 80s and have been, well, around ever since. Personally, there are some Aeromith songs I really like, but overall I think they're a bit overated, and they haven't done anything worthwhile in quite a long time.
Incidentally, I was amused to hear the MTV Icons commercial on WNEW yesterday, immediately followed by the Dodge commercial they had sold their song to ("Just Push Play"). I didn't realize icons had to sell out.
