I'm sitting here, posting messages with the Lakers game in the backgroung (a veritable renaissance man, I know), and the announcer says, "Rick Fox with the field goal!"

I thought he said, "Ripped farts with the field goal!"

Somehow, I don't think this says much about my subconscious.

I'm not a huge basketball fan, but the term for making a basket is indeed a "field goal." Of course, it's only worth three points if you shoot it from beyond the three-point arc or kick it between the uprights.

Lulu,

I'm not an expert on the rules of basketball, but I think I can clear things up a bit. The "three point arc" is where Jewish basketball players place their code of laws. It is considered a holy relic. "Shooting beyond the three point arc" is symbolic of making a basket for Jehova and is inherently worth more than the regular shot. "Kicking it between the uprights" is the phrase used when one starts behaving in a loose or "jive" manner, (aka "kicking it") between two members of the Upright Citizens Brigade. I hope your comprehension of the rules of basketball has been duly clarified.

Sure, many Hall of Fame Players were Jewish.

Joe "Goaltending" Goldman
Larry "The Seventh Man" Liebowitz
Teddy "Too Tall" Tanewiecz
Magic Johnson

That reminds me of an NBC ad I heard on WNEW where I thought I heard the announcer say something about a jag-off. Turns out he was talking about a JAG officer. Like there's a difference.
