8-Year-Old Florida Boy Drives to School

(Reuters) - An
8-year-old Florida boy
drove himself to
school in a stolen car
after missing the
school bus, police said
this week.

The youngster was
caught when
schoolmates told a
teacher they had
seen him park the car
in the faculty lot at
Riverhills Elementary
School in Temple
Terrace, a city northeast of Tampa.

The boy, who could barely see above the dashboard, had crossed at least one busy four-lane intersection on the 1.5-mile route from his home to the school.

He was suspended from school for up to 10 days for endangering himself and others, but was not arrested because police did not see him driving the car.

this kid rocks! i remember when i used to miss the school bus i had to run home and get my mom to driv me to school before she left for work, and if i missed her i had to go banging on neighbor's doors to ask for a ride. maybe i should have taken a hint from this kid. i hope they don't try and pin this thing on gta 3, cause it does sound like this kid has played a round or 2

i was always happy when i didnt have to go to school i guess hes really into higher learning.

i miss the bus quite a bit, and then my parents always have to drive me. but if they weren't around to drive me, i wouldn't go. since when have kids wanted to go to school? i'm 14 and already out of touch with the youth...

Well Well Well...My contact in the Florida State Troopers said they found the following directions and a map to meet someone named "BoBo."1: Start out going South on N RIDGEDALE RD towards FILLIAN AVE. 0.17 miles

2: Turn RIGHT onto E BULLARD PKWY. 0.24 miles

3: E BULLARD PKWY becomes E BUSCH BLVD. 3.76 miles

4: Take the I-275 S ramp towards ST PETERSBURG. 0.19 miles

5: Merge onto I-275 S. 21.04 miles

6: Take the SR-694 W exit- exit number 15- towards PINELLAS PARK/SEMINOLE. 0.63 miles
