View Full Version : How Many Times Do You See A Movie If You Like It?

I hear that kids pay to see popular films 20 plus times during it's run at a theater.
To me, that's insane, and I was a kid who loved double features and bad Godzilla movies. Do you go back and see a film more than once if you like it?

20 times is insane, although I have gone to see certain movies more then once. Lord of the rings I saw 3 times (and I'm getting a dvd screener copy this friday[damn I'm am such a geek]), Blade II I've seen twice. Those are the most recent multiple viewings I can remeber

When I was a kid, if I liked a movie, I had no compunctions about using a screwdriver to pry open the emergency doors at the movie theatre to go see the movie again. Case in point ... "The Warriors".

i saw memento 3 times in the theater, but i can't imagine seeing a movie more than that. at least in the theater.

Fatty makes us happy!
The last time I saw a movie more than once at the theater was "Star Wars" when I was 7.
For me, the high cost of movies, having cable movie channels like HBO and Showtime, and the invention of the VCR and DVD makes me only need to see a movie one time at the theater.

I don't think I have ever seen a movie in the theaters more than once and some of them I wish I had seen less.

The only time I'll even think about seeing a movie in the theatre twice is if I'm lucky enough to get a date AND she absolutely wants to see a movie I've already seen...AND I can't talk her out of it. Movies on TV, on the other hand...there are several movies that no matter what I'm running late for, I'll always end up being later because one of them is on TV. These include, but are not limited to: The Godfather (even though I have it on dvd, if its on tv, I cant turn away), Caddyshack I, Meet the Parents, Vacation, After Hours..I'm sure I'm forgetting the one that'll make me late to work today.

I'll see a flik only once in the theaters....then when I own it on video or dvd then I'll watch it so many goddam times I'll start quoting the thing or use lines from it on people I know havent seen the movie this way I seem clever or something!
In a world of lies it is the man who tells the truth who must be silenced!
as many times as i can get out and see it. but the most i've seen something in the theater was 8 times. i shall not tell you what the movie was, because it is quite embarrassing.

In the theater, by myself, I will not see a film more than twice. If it's going to see a flick with a group (like, say, LOTR), I may watch it more than that, but not often.
On tape or DVD, it's all fair game. I've seen some of my favorite flicks numerous times. I've watched "Big Trouble in Little China" probably a 100 times or so.

Cable Guy...as bad a rap as this movie gets, I couldn't tear myself away today, and yes, I ended up being just a few minutes late.

I should add the video/dvd is a whole different story. There is no limit to how many times I will watch a movie I like on video or DVD. I too have probably seen Big Trouble in Little China well over a hundred times and will quote the movie insessently(sp?). Goonies, Princess Bride, Goodfella, I can't tell you how many times I've scene these.
AJW...All Jobber Wrestling...All jobbers, all the time.
The only movie I've ever seen more than once in the theater is "A Beautiful Mind." It really blew me away.
As far as watching them on cable, certain classics like "Blues Brothers" and "Animal House" can be watched over and over again.

OK, I did see "Henry, Portrait Of a Serial Killer" about 3 times at The Angelika. And going back a bit, I saw "Rock and Roll High School" and "Quadrophenia" a few times also.

I've never seen a movie in the theaters more than once willingly.
However, if, say, Tommy Boy was on TV every day, I'd watch it every time.
But, by the same token, if Touch of Evil was on every day, I couldn't watch it more than once every other month or so.
What does that say about me?

I saw Jurassic Park 4 times in the theater, which isn't THAT bad I guess. However, I used to watch Interview with the Vampire 2 -3 times a day for a few months. My best friend and I would watch it, rewind it, watch it again. It got to the point where we could sit down with a few beers and recite the entire movie in about 20 minutes. A couple years ago, I somehow got into the habit of falling asleep EVERY night to Happy Gilmore, directly followed by From Dusk til Dawn. I also think I could watch Snatch another 300 times.

it matters what movie it is. I saw the Phantom Menace once...only because it wasnt that great. I thought about seeing it again.....but i didnt want to sit through certain parts. Almost the same with Lord of the Rings....i loved it, saw it once...thought about seeing it again....but there are few minor boring parts that turn me away
