View Full Version : Why do people drive like this?

Last night i was on my way home from Brooklyn(eastbound on the belt). There was a Honda Civic(low ride, huge ass spoiler, alloy rims, the whole deal) driving beside me. He would speed up, get cought up in traffic, have to slow down, then speed up and cut off the guy in front of him. This process repeated itself for a few miles. I stayed in the left lane doing a steady 70mph.
Just before Penn Ave he came up in the right lane cut off the guy in the middle lane, and lost control of the car. He slammed into the divider right in front of me. Needless to say, that little Honda exploded into a cloud of fiberglass and plastic.
I don't know how I avoided hitting him. I swerved left and made it between the gap of the divider and his wreck.
Three questions;
Why do people drive like this?
Did he get what he deserves?
Was it wrong for me to wish him to be injured?

furie,
don't let the road rage get to ya, ain't worth it...
sounds like someone who was high or drinking or both... if not maybe someone who hasn't driven for too long and couldn't control the speed of the car or was not familiar with shifting(I never drove a stick)
it is really "not right" to wish any injury upon him and unnecessary, it looks like that person is doing a good job of it himself...
i think there will always be a time when we do something "dumb" when we're driving and we would rather not have someone wishing us injury or being enraged at us...
i've been lost and have made illegal turns, accidentally started up a one-way street and things like that...
PEACE!

1. Because it is NY.
2. He got what he deserved!
3. No, it wasn't wrong of you to wish him injury! ;-)

Furie-
It's not nice to wish harm on someone, but it is part of human nature to want the guy to get some kind of "come-uppance" which he got by hitting the divider. I felt myself hoping that the "car that cut me off" goes into a ditch too. I know its not nice, but hey, that's a reaction you get.
So, the guy spent all that money "tricking out" a Civic, and plows into a divider? Maybe the driver will realize that all the chrome and spoilers don't mean a thing when you ram into a barrier or another car at 50+ mph. He just wasted a boatload of money.
