View Full Version : When was the last time you marked out?
Seeing as most of you are down on the WWF right now and a few of you are down on American Wrestling all together, when was the last time you just completely marked out to something involving wrestling?
The last thing for me on Television was seeing RVD win the IC belt at Wrestlemania. Following him fom his early days in ECW to that point (and being a fan of his the whole time) pretty much made me proud. I know it wasn't his greatest match, but it was a Milestone.
The last time I marked out live was the Return of the Dudleys to the Elks Lodge which I also think was the last ECW show I went to. Just having the old Gertner Intro, 25 minutes of Bad Mouthing the Crowd, Bubba going up into the Balcony to get in the face of a smartass it was just everything I enjoyed about ECW.

Two weeks ago, when Brock Lesnar tossed Rikishi around like a doll. Before that, it was the Hogan/Rock promo on Raw that set up the WM match. My biggest markout moment of the year was Mr. Perfect returning at the Royal Rumble.

I actually marked a little at a few recent WWF moments...
Kidman winning the cruiserweight title...
return of Eddie...
Xpac to NWO...
before that, I would say when Jericho won the first Undisp. championship.
But my biggest mark-out moment since the WWF has been without competition was the re-formation of ECW, the first night of the alliance.....
too bad that friggin banshee ruined it....

The Hogan / Rock promo before WM, since it was the most surreal moment I've seen in wrestling in a long time. I honestly NEVER thought I'd see those two in the ring together.
And I marked out big time when Flair returned to the WWF.
the reformation of ecw in the wwf.
Can someone explain this to me?
I mean, yeah, I dug ECW.
But really, it wasn't THAT good. I've said it before, I'll say it again - WCW had more going for it even in the final days than ECW did.

I gotta concur with se7en. When Rock tore his shirt at the end of him promo I was marking out like I used to for the Ultimate Warrior when I was 11 or 12.
I have spoken....Behold me.

Most recent Mark out moments are
1) ECW invades/reforms
2) Ric Flair returns.
Now se7en are you saying that WCW in the end was better the ECW in its prime? Because if so, I'll have to call bullshit on that one. But if you are saying that WCW in the end was better then ECW in the end, their is an arguement to be made there.

what's to explain about the ECW thing, first of all RVD and Tommy Dreamer were back on my tv, within minutes the ring was filled with the Dudleys, Rhyno, Tazz, Awesome, Credible, Storm, and Raven, and when they all turned to face Kane and Jericho, Followed by Paul E. Dangeroulsy getting up and triumphently going to the ring, I was doing Flips....
ECW was weird at the end, yeah, but It was still better than anything WCW put on since the Wolfpack.... WCW was just inane crap for a good 3 years, and before that It wasn't much better, not since 92-93, I'd say

I was marking out like crazy during the Hogan Rock match at WMX8.I also marked out in front of my parents on June 9th when the invasion angle went EXTREME.I also marked out by screaming at my tv when Austin turned on the WWF at Invasion.

I mark out at Jericho 9 times out of 10.. even though they pussed out on him once they gave him the title.
The last non-Jericho moment that I marked, was probably the on screen return of Heyman, and I did get a gentle feeling of happiness from Molly beating the hell out of Trish.

I also marked out when ECW joined the invasion but what made me mark out more was the Paul Heyman- Vince promo before the Survivor Series. While it was all part of the angle, there was so much truth in what he said. I just remember sitting there like D-von Dudley screaming "Testify" to everything he said.
My all time mark out moment was when Foley won the WWF title on RAW. He sacrificed his body and his future health to make it in this business and finally got his due. IMO, nothing else on RAW has come close.

Last time... WM with Rock/Hogan and to a lesser extend Spike Dudley aka The Giant Killer going old school and squashing a match to win the European Title... btw, the Cruiserweight Title Match with Chavo vs. Kidman was pretty MARK out worthy.

I too was at that show, and man it was great. The Dudleys went way beyond the call of duty that night alongside the rest of the ECW locker room. Plus Bubba threw me a piece of the table he put Dawn Marie through, and plugged my site :)
My last mark out moment had to be when Spike made his shocking WWF debut & helped the Dudleys win the tag titles

It all depends upon what you consider ECW's "prime". I'd say that it was 1995. That's when they still had Malenko, Benoit, & Guerrero (who were all top workers in that day), and the Raven / Dreamer feud was going strong. Maybe at that moment, that year, everything clicked for ECW.
But beyond that, I'm sorry, WCW was better than ECW.
Here's the thing I think most people love ECW for - the attitude it created and possessed. Beyond that, though, while I liked ECW....outside of that one "magic year", I never thought ECW was as good as WCW or the WWF.
And yes, I'm including WCW at the end. WCW at the end had more going for it than ECW did MOST of the years of its existence.
