So, After 17 years of fucking around and not taking care of my teeth Ive decided to go and get them checked out. Turns out I need 3 root canals, 9 cavities filled and 2 teeth pulled.

So Im sitting here sunday morning 12am Crying because one of the teeth that need a canal is hurting me bad. I was able to swing an appointment for monday. Has anyone gotten a root canal? did it hurt etc. im sure anything would be better then this right now.. Also does anyone have any ideas as to get rid of the pain for a while ?

i recently had a root canal...
how much pain seems to depend on how much novacaine you receive, I never seem to receive enough...

then they will want to cap your tooth or put a post and cap/bridge...
I passed on it, I just asked them to fill it and i will take my chances... they say the tooth is weaker after a root canal and prone to cracking, once it cracks it's lost and the root canal was all for naught... i
never like ambesol, other than percocet or a mild pain killer not sure what to use besides alcohol...

i had a root canal last year when i went it to have it taken care of it was nothing at all.when i first started feeling the pain i went through a month of hell that shyt keep me up for weeks.JONkEU sorry for you man,but you will be going through pain until its taken care of.....good luck

Jonkeu It depends on the novacaine and your tolerance. I have had some root canal and wisdom teeth pulled and have eaten hard foods later that evening. I also had a tooth filled after root canal and it can crack and that can be annoying. As for waiting, Take some motrin if you can, I find that helped me til I got to the dentist.

Wow man that sucks. Make sure they give you plenty of novacaine dont be afraid to ask for more. I've had 2 root canals and frankly they are a waste of time because ultimately you are going to lose the tooth. However finding a dentist to do an an extraction is impossible. They can charge as much for an extraction. But thats my opinion. Also make sure you get plenty of Vicaden, whatever you don't use you can always sell to a soccer mom.

Well it was done. and funny I have no pain anymore.. WOOHOO!

i have to go 1 more time to have them finish it. Whats that about?
