View Full Version : Cruiserweight Division: Good or bad?

Well obviously as we all know the WWF Cruiserweight Division is restarting on Smackdown! Even Tazz mentioned Joey Numbers saying that there will be an influx of cruiserweights coming into the division. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
Current Champion: Billy Kidman with Torrie Wilson again?
Cruiserweights (considered as anyway):
Tajiri
Funaki
Rey Mysterio Jr.
Nova?
2 Hotty
Hurricane
Edge
Rico Constantino?
Nick Dinsmore (Thank God the WWF is bringing him up more of a Chris Benoit submission type but probably considered a cruiserweight)
Jamie Knoble
Shannon Moore
AJ Styles?
I for one enjoy the aerial illusions of these wrestlers but do you think it is a waste of money. And if so, do you think this division much airtime?

i love seeing a good crusierweight match. the reason why vince has always been so against them though, is because his philosophy is that wreslers should be larger than life characters. its hard to be larger than life when you barely break 200 pounds

Edge and Rico would most likely be considered heavyweights.
A.J. Styles has apparently decided to turn down a WWF contract, since they allegedly were going to pay him shit (he could make more in the indies, easily). Such is the problem when you have a monopoly.
The cruizerweight division is not a waste. It can and will get over with the fans, but only if it's given one thing - time. You can't just have 2 guys go out there and bounce around for a couple minutes. At the minimum, each match should be a good five minutes in length, to showcase their skills.
But the bigger concern is whether we'll see them at all. I'd have greatly preferred that the Cruizerweight division was on RAW, where there wasn't the concern of a Rock / Hogan / HHH promo cutting into their ring time. On Smackdown, they stand the chance of either being buried amidst everything or only broadcast on shows like Jakked / Metal.

i have to agree with se7en, i would have rather seen it on raw with the likes of RVD and Brock Lessner (future pic for a HUGE star) but in my opinion any type of cruiserweight division = more gooder

good idea there's alot of wwf stars that can carry that belt. and there would be a couple of good matches.

In the dying days of WCW, the cruiserweight division was all that was worth watching...and the WWF knows this too...
Edge is not going to fight for the cruiseweight belt, nor would RVD if he was on SmackDown! Neither could benefit from such a title. However, for a Tajiri or Misterio, it's their only shot at winning a "world" singles title. Misterio vs. Triple H? Hope you like Mexican Pizzas.
Don't forget that the WWF isn't done making its moves...the Dudleys may team again soon, and who's to say some Raw cruiserweights couldn't move to SmackDown?

First off: Brock Lesner is a Sid Vicious knockoff. He's not even cool enough to be a clone. Second if the Cruiserweight division is gonna work then the WWF needs to take a clue from the WCW.its hard to be larger than life when you barely break 200 pounds
Not true at all. In WCW every wrestling fan I knew knew all the cruiserweights names. The thing about the WWF is that it feels like almost every match has to be storyline driven and that's why the light heavyweight division suffered. Put two high flying lunatics in the ring and see who can outdo who. That's the key to a thriving cruiserweight divison. Because no one wants to hear what they have to say only what they do in the ring.
